Is it correct that the the BLG was formed from a Barrossa league and the remnants of the CDA (Gawler area teams)?

This would never work nowadays, or it would turn into the Southern League's equivalent.Lightning McQueen wrote:Esteban Vihaio wrote:kookas wrote:some of the clubs in the north could always re-form the old Central Districts Association, there would be at least 10-12 clubs that could start in it.

No, it used to be the CDFA then became the NMFL around 1990, it had the following clubs in it.
Elizabeth
Smithfield
Salisbury
Salisbury West
Salisbury North
Eastern Park
Central United
Brahma Lodge
Paralowie
Westfields (now defunct) 80's
Blakeview (now defunct) late 80's
Elizabeth North (now defunct) 80's
Kaurna United (now defunct) 80's
Hope Valley (had a few years in CDFA) 80's
Virginia (had a few years in CDFA) late 80's early 90's
There may have been a couple of others but I've killed too many brain cells along the way. There used to be 3 divisions at one stage too, C's played on Sundays, classical "C" grade footy.

No, I'd doubt it would, pokies gives Salisbury North & West a bit of an edge.
Eastern Park have been massive improvers.

Agree and let the door slam shut on their arses on the way out!

I wasn't arguing the C Grade point mate, I was arguing the concept of playing the local clubs against each other. The range of $$ available and standards between clubs is astronomical.Esteban Vihaio wrote:Pag wrote:This would never work nowadays, or it would turn into the Southern League's equivalent.Lightning McQueen wrote: There used to be 3 divisions at one stage too, C's played on Sundays, classical "C" grade footy.
Sunday A's (C Grade) is brilliant for any number of reasons
- People who work saturday's
- People who can't get enough (Double up after the Magoo's)
- People who don't take it too seriously
- Spectators, lazy sunday afternoon feel especially with a sunny day
- Can play directly after the Sunday juniors, creating a club atmosphere

Probably the latter. I'm with everyone else here though, they put out a sob story about how they don't like the promotion/relegation sytem and all this crap. They're not exactly struggling either, they were a win away from going back up to A1. From an outsider's point of view, it seems like they want success and are prepared to take the easy option of playing against Hackham and the like so they can play finals every year.Esteban Vihaio wrote:Keepitreal wrote:The Big Shrek wrote:The problem was with Edwardstown not the SAAFL. Not ever played for or against the townies, but are they really that bad? If so, why? Or is this just a case of "Your with us or against us" rhetoric?

But with the C Grade, the CDJFL play all the juniors (Under 7s -15s), as well as the Under 17s/18s, so that wouldn't fit either.
