Umpiring was very good....surely not.
I am not one at all to complain about the umpires, and have to say the standard of umpiring has been very good this year.
On the weekend they did protect the player going for the ball, but anyone who yelled out, threw their head back, dropped to their knees etc etc got a free kick. Any crappy acting job got rewarded.
Your 'B' grade umpire is an interesting one. Does she realise that blowing her whistle a million times whilst their is a blue going on is a waste of time? Also, sticking a yellow card in someones face, so the card actually makes contact with the players face only makes a heated situation worse? Clear lack of respect for the players.
Whilst you have your cheat continue to trot around umpiring B Grade games I'd suggest you get back in your box criticising anyone else's umpires..
cheat not sure but incredibly over officious almost farcical at times

However the canteen was viable all day and beer costs don't vary too much anywhere (and let me tell you I know). I guess you didn't come into our rooms after the game but I can tell you your players and members that did were made to feel welcome and the repartie was terrific. Get over the result. Thanks to all of those players (and not just our ex players) that came in and mixed, that is what amateir footy is about.
Paid $6 for a beer after our game at Kilburn, paid only $4 for a beer at Pulteney on the weekend. That's 50% different.
Didn't even get around to buying a beer at Heccies as they shouted the A's some after the game so that's infinity % different.
$5 a TED & $4.50 Light at Heccies.

We've got WED and Hahn Super Dry on tap. $5 pints all day, every day.piccachu wrote:just flicking through here about beer prices, do any clubs still serve tap beers, it seems more and more clubs are going down the can path, i have been trying to persuade my club to start getting Kegs again as we have taps and lines still installed just need to be cleaned.

I'm sure thats a result of a) footy being a tough game to umpire and b) the pool of people putting their hand up isn't too large, but surely it is not too difficult to pay the same decision each way.
It seems that it is solely up to the club's own umpire to ensure their players don't get clobbered sometimes.

Ditto Pag, but we've also managed to stitch up a Bulmers Tap with pints for $5! All players welcome down at SMOSH!

We have WED and Super Dry on tap upstairs at same price at heccies. It hard to sell beers at any less than $5 (every year or so prices will go up). I dont think $1 price difference is going to make those people that bring their esky's change their mind anyway,
and to be honest if i wanted to have a dozen beers at the footy at away matches it be easier to bring a esky then having to go to the canteen every 15 minutes and also cheaper

Might have to think about upping the prices down at Glandore.
We can't win a game so we might as well make some more money from the bar.
Beers have been $4 a throw for several years now
