Is it the same Damien Rigney that would be about 35-40 years old

If so I'm shocked!!!

Have had a fair bit to do with him at work previously and he seemed a very placid, grounded genuine nice bloke

The Damien I know would lose his shit unless he thought he was provoked

I was told yesterday at football that the umpire was also in trouble as well.

I'd also imagine that it would take anyone that's played at a semi-professional capacity a lot to lose his shit - and with the ump concerned I'm not surprised.

He provokes with his whistle. How any umpire can go into a game with an automatic prejudice against one side is beyond me.

Shouldn't be a field umpire.

and this is coming from someone that never says anything about umpires.

They did have a 9 time medallist on the team sheet.

Apart from that, I think there was only one other change. No shenanigans, play on.

To be honest, we didn't come away from the Smithfield game in great shape and we went into the preliminary final with two starting mids missing.

We looked tired from the first quarter and AU beat us at our own game.

Not sure about that but I was told this from other umpires.

Yes, and no. Smithfield are shorter than Black Caviar ever was and Uni are longer odds than any of her rivals ever were. :D

As a host full credit to Smithfield. Won well and won graciously. Supporters were impeccable in terms of supporting the official bars and overall behavior.

Very impressed and a flag well deserved
