Darth Demon wrote:What was "news worthy" on the weekend was the clash between The Unley Mercedes Jets and Port Districts at Kingswood Oval - A great C2 match worthy of the Triple Header crowd, with many astute judges saying what a great standard it was.

Districts came out strong, as you would expect and lead by 15 points at Half time. The Jets worked hard to kick 5 goals in the 3rd and were lucky Districts missed a few shots under pressure. Both sides featured good team work and quality running footy with some entertaining cameos - Districts Russell Martin was the Best Forward on the ground with 6 goals and the Young Jets were served well by former Sydney Swans player Jim West patrolling across Half Back. Great to see a Father and Son combo in the SAAFL - Jim's son Luke played well in the midfield, shadowing a quality opponent in Rod Smitheram, in the second half. The Young Jets eventually ran out winners, by 4 points. Two quality sides playing good hard footy. Now that's worth talking about. 8)

Aha, I played on him a fair bit of the game, don't feel quite so bad now getting beaten by a more elder statesmen than myself with those crudentials. Was a good game, looking forward to the return leg at Largs. Another tough one for us in a fortnight playing the Raggies out there at the unusual time slot of 2.15pm

Really dosen't matter if it was reported to the paper or who by, it was an ugly incident. Im still shocked at a couple of cowardly acts that took place and there is no place for that crap in any sport. Hope clubs and league get the right blokes and deal with them in the right way.

From what was advised by a Seaton player this morning. If this Lutheran bloke ias an MMA he should be stripped of his credentials and banned from the game for life. Coming in from nowhere and hitting a bloke like that is a disgrace. I hope Seaton go full tilt at this bloke. Lutheran went the knuckle when we were getting on top of them a few weeks back. I told my blokes they MUST NOT respond to it. Only respond by how we were doing them over on the score board. Tell me this. If a certified Boxer or someone that is licensed or whatever the case may be starts laying into a player on a Saturday or anywhere for that matter, doesnt that person get stripped from any competition? Cant say enough about this sort of thing. We have had boxers, cops (even start force), army you name it in our side and i cant remember an ything like the result from the weekend. The bloke should be strung up. Good on the Seaton lads for getting i there to help out too.

Our game on the weekend was ok. We were rediculously wayward in front of goal. 21 points in the end. We kept Pooraka with a sniff in the first half. We were actually down at the first break. After that the rocket came and the lads decided enough was enough. Good game in the end but should have been by a far greater margin. I will say that the Pooraka umpire needs to go away (and thats putting it nicely so i dont get banned ;) ). Mind you we had an ump pull the pin on us so we had to use an injured player who has never umpired before. He was oo scared to make a call really. The Pooraka club ump well im not going to go any further. Enough said.

If the Pooraka umpire is still a guy named David I think people should think about what they say before they get in front of the keyboard because they are very uninformed and uneducated and know nothing about what his life is about. Yes he may make some strange decisions from time to time and yes he might seem a little different and that's because he is. But the guy genuinely spends his life helping others and doing stuff for others when he could quite easily sit back and do nothing like most people even though he is more entitled to receive help than most.
To see him out there umpiring is inspiring and people should cut him slack and be appreciative of the job he does voluntarily...

I agree with you choccies, without knowing the bloke, it can be seen that he is not quite all there. Good on him for giving up his saturdays to help out Pooraka. I overheard there coach say that it is hard to get help when its not a triple header.
he does make some odd calls that make both teams stop and think but I have seen many an umpire do the same thing and alot of them wouldnt have an excuse like this guy does.
On the weekend both umpires let the game play and didnt favour either side, think that is all you can ask for in a lower level game.
Our kicking was horrible and that comes down to simply some blokes being hogs and not giving the ball to the bloke in the better position.

It was Dave that umpired the game on the weekend. I personally thought the umpiring was quite good. BOTH umpires let the game go on and didnt give away silly free kicks which is refreshing. Seems to be every week Satchel whinges about the umpiring , and this is the first Ive experienced an opposition side complaining about him, he tires so hard to not be biased towards Pooraka that we end up losing alot of frees that we should get.

Apparently a couple of off duty police officers at the game who were aligned to the Salisbury F\C witnessed the incident & have offered their services to the young man & the Club.

I think he means to assist the seaton lad. I guess more will come out at the tribunal tonight.

This post is not from me
don't shoot the messenger
Requested by a close friend & member of Adel Luth's...

This is what I want ya to put in: these seaton stories seem a bit deluded. I heard from a salisbury Person that a Lutheran player was king hit and had his face smashed first. Another seaton player hit another player, both red carded and didn't leave the field. Then they and others got involved and messed with a couple others they wish they hadn't and got some of their own medicine back... What goes around comes around. The cowardly acts was the initial king hit and seaton players punching and kicking lutheran players while on the ground, mainly skinny young players. They also offered to take it to the car park, how thoughtful. Sounds like the big broom needs to go through this team to rid the club of players of this sort of violent behaviour. 5 seaton red cards to 2 paints a more realistic picture!! Apparently the umpires lost total control and seaton club officials did nothing to come in and prevent any of this violence from continuing. Very poor form

I have told him that it will not last on here for long, that is if anyone sees it?
Not to mention getting me some weeks

Why? For giving someone's version of the truth? What did the Lutheran umpire and officials do to stop it?

The club he trains at will deal with him internally could even be kicked out, i'm not sure however what happens when he fights professionaly if the association he fights in does anything or leaves it for his own club to sort out. The first thing you are always taught when going to a club is that it is self defence and if you are found to be fighting without it being self diffence you will be big trouble with the club. Most of these guys that do train and fight professionaly are usualy pretty controlling of there temper, and for the fact of they know what damage they can do with 1 punch, but like every sport every club there is always bad ones.

I didn't see the incident or what took place prior to the incident but I can tell you that it is pretty rare to see one go off for no reason and usually they want to go 1 on 1. But as I said they earlier there is always that couple that ruin it for everyone and more then likely if he is 1 of them he has been kicked out of clubs before this.
We're on this journey together, One Heart, One Club and they will Never Ever Tear Us Apart.

This story is not entirely true and while i agree that the seaton fc played their part in what took place this post is far from what actually happened. I think you will find that there were 3 red cards given 2 seaton players and 1 lutheran player. I saw our player last night and he is booked in for surgery this morning to have 5 plates inserted into his face to repair his smashed cheekbone. We can argue who was to blame to the cows come home but in my opinion if you are a registered fighter and you king hit someone from behind and cause the injuries that were sustained you should expect a long long holiday from the game. I do take exception at the statement that seaton officials did nothing to prevent this from continuing as officials did every thing in their power to separate the teams and take the necessary action to make sure the injured players received the medical attention they required. This behaviour should never be tolerated on a football field and It is certainly not something that the Seaton football club condones and internally our committee met last night and I know our players will dealt with to make sure it never happens again.
