Districts came out strong, as you would expect and lead by 15 points at Half time. The Jets worked hard to kick 5 goals in the 3rd and were lucky Districts missed a few shots under pressure. Both sides featured good team work and quality running footy with some entertaining cameos - Districts Russell Martin was the Best Forward on the ground with 6 goals and the Young Jets were served well by former Sydney Swans player Jim West patrolling across Half Back. Great to see a Father and Son combo in the SAAFL - Jim's son Luke played well in the midfield, shadowing a quality opponent in Rod Smitheram, in the second half. The Young Jets eventually ran out winners, by 4 points. Two quality sides playing good hard footy. Now that's worth talking about.
Aha, I played on him a fair bit of the game, don't feel quite so bad now getting beaten by a more elder statesmen than myself with those crudentials. Was a good game, looking forward to the return leg at Largs. Another tough one for us in a fortnight playing the Raggies out there at the unusual time slot of 2.15pm
