At the 22nd minute mark of the last quarter we were done by 1 goal, to then be down by 4 goals at the 29th minute was very disappointing. The oval needs to be looked at. With the kind of weather we've been having all ovals should be in reasonably good condition. They were pretty much playing beach footy out there. There were just random sandpits all over the ground, making turning impossible!
The umpiring wasn't fantastic but were probably better than what we've been getting most other weeks. One interesting point though - which was a bit of shame. The goals umpires we had were very young. One looked maybe 12, the other less than 10. Good on them for giving it a go, would have to take a bit of courage for them to put their hands up and do it but unfortunately some of the decision were horrible to say the least. The younger goal umpire calling a goal goal for CBC when the ball bounced through the points, and a touched point for Mitcham when the ball came off the boot of a mitcham forward (thats 2 goals!!!). Also tried to call a point for when the ball hit the point post - when it's just out of bounds. The players seemed confused, and the Mitcham blokes weren't happy. Which led to the young goal umpire in tears and having to be consoled by the field umpires at 3 quarter time! Surely there's an age limit - thought it was 15??

Not insinuating that the umpires might of had an influence on the outcome, Oh my god 7 days is a long time in football![]()

Very even first quarter with both sides probabyl guilty of missing kickable goals. Iggies had the best of the second quarter with a few of their midfielders playing some good footy and their ruckman getting on top. They went into half time 9 points up.
Third quarter was all SMOSH, due to some great clearance work, and pressure tackling. Think it was 7 goals to none and the after kicking the first goal in the last it was pretty much a sealed result for the Lions. Great win, important to honour Cal Masson playing his 200th game in the right manner! Game was played in good spirit between the sides, and TBH Umpiring was pretty good Again following on from last week.

Regardless of Umpires, that result from Para Hills/Kilburn was itneresting - few new players out at Kilburn!

seems to always be a very close game with us 2 sides, disapointing for us as we were leading for majority of the final quarter, looked like you blokes just had a bit more class in the end. Should be a very good return clash though.
I didnt see many of your blokes hang around for a beer which was a bit disapointing, must have had a function to get to?

all in all a entertaining game of footy, we played 2 good 1/4's of footy and probably only won because we had a bit more juice in the tank, and "junk time" cleggett decided to put on a show up forward.
thought at one stage waering was going to turn the game on its head along with no36, who chopped us up all day. is he the bloke from port?? wouldnt of thought u'd have his services much this year.
as said will be interesting game on our bigger oval. i think is some ways it will suit you blokes but the fitness may again help us. either way always a cracker day our games.
i thought our umps were consistant in that they called the same stuff all day a lot of it imo was a little to quick on the whistle but you have to adjust your game to it.

No news this week as some fat bastard kicked the goal of the decade and then kicked a goal from the top of the Scoreboard, "according to him"
A modest little porker as well - same little porker has been telling everyone about 42 posessions for the last week as well and that was 2 games ago
