They have an U/15 team in the SFL overflow competition and an U/12, U/10 & U/8 team in the SFL minis.

Probably the same as if any other club oval was sold by the council or government or whoever owns it.
DECS just spent about 11 million on developing a super school from r to 7. I doubt they would then sell off the oval given the obesity concerns of the children nowadays.

They'd have no oval.

Some people say the dumbest question is the one never asked. You just proved them wrong.
And it's a Primary School.

not having a dig at the club, just curious of the location

the bigger the school gets the bigger the juniors footy program would get, but as a district club is are the ambitions of the folk to still be there in 10 years? does anyone poke the council ever for a more homely home

The club has been there for 40 years with a 1200+ student High School, a 250 student High School, no school for a few years and now a Primary School opened to replace 2 local Primary Schools that were shut. With extensions currently underway I can't see why the need to move. Council kicked Sullies out of Sullies oval to accommodate South Adelaide Soccer Club. Was one of the reasons for the merge with Lonsdale back in 2001.

Was such a nice setup at Sullies as well - especially for cricket.. far better than where they are now IMO.

Slightly revisionist...

The merger occurred prior to vacating O'Sullivan Beach Oval. For 2-3 seasons the new merged club split it's home games between the two venues.

The eviction was as much about under-utilisation by OSB Lonsdale as it was the Soccer Club taking over. Obviously the Council had the option of a growing SASC using it full time, or OSBL using it part-time while they played half their games at their other venue.

OSBL were not a large enough club to warrant two venues, their biggest mistake was not locking down O'Sullivan Beach as their home ground and as such have been left with the lesser venue. I remember people at the merged club at the time defending the decision to prioritise Morphett Vale High School as they received full bar takings, whereas they were part of a shared complex at O'Sullivan Beach. In the end they were not using O'Sullivan Beach Oval sufficiently and someone else (SASC) took the opportunity and moved in.

Well I guess your heresay trumps my memory. Soccer was given priority over footy and cricket. So if any clashes occured guess who had to move games or start and finish early. Games programmed at Sullies were moved to Lonsdale. Cricket games had to be finished by 4 as Soccer had a trial game at 4.30.

It all makes sense now. It looked like it was your first game of football. You didn't look very coumftable out there.

OSBFC (and OSBCC) were getting shafted before the merger, the soccer club there were getting preference for a lot of the facilities and funding.
