Should have posted gerling182 and he would have put it in footy news. But I know now so thanks for the heads up champ. Great player too, cost me a Div 1 res final a few years ago. All the best Matt we will do what we can to spoil it for you.

How so Yanks? Wot club were u with mate? Did Matty play 2008 Div 1R GF? Thats my best guess :?

In the WC v Brisbane game on sunday, the umpire was about to begin his approach and Ben Hudson was still running to the middle (he was already in the square). The umpire allowed him in, but he didn't allow him inside the centre circle, forcing Simon Black to contest the ruck against Nic Natanui. It was strange, as technically Black and Hudson were both outside the centre circle and if the umpire allowed Black in there, surely he could have let Hudson in there? I didn't quite understand it to be honest

Black did quite well considering the mismatch, FWIW

I was coach of Edwardstown Div 1R 2007, you guys won the Elim final and Matty kicked 5 if I recall. 3 in the last quarter to get you up by 7 pts, and you went on to play in the GF, only to go down to GAZA who had a cracking reserves team back then. Always held Matty in high regard and I would expect you boys to play well for him, as they should. I'm on WOW FM on saturday morning so I will give him a plug for you.

i seen the incident with the b grade player totally incidental, didnt even look like he was really touched, unbelievable what the body will take and wont take. I hope the lad is ok, just a general footy collision.

Well done to marbles and Henley yesterday. They were just too good all over the ground and really deserved their win. Whatever is written and said, the fact remains, they are a serious threat for the flag. Treat them lightly at your own peril. It was a great contest for three quarters but their strengths came at the end when it mattered. Well done lads. :(

Fairly surprised that Henley won, but glad to hear it. Good effort by Flinders Uni away too.

I wasn't at the game, but also heard about the incident which led to the Henley v Mitchell Park reserves game needing to be ended early. Sounds pretty nasty. Guys come out and play this game as something social and competetive to fill their weekends with, and incidents like these just put that in perspective really. I feel pretty sorry for the poor bloke.
Yank Man how is he?? What is the injury?

Thanks for your concern Lutzy and to all who have posted me. He is a 16 y.o. kid playing his 1st year in seniors and the nephew of the McDonnell brothers and a pretty special kid. It wasn't a good look at the time after he copped a knee to the spine in a normal clash of footy. The good news is he is out of hospital and there is no permanent damage and will live to fight another day, he's a tough kid and is in good spirits and it's a massive relief to his parents who were pretty upset at the time. Again thanks to all the well wishers.

Not really a bad thing to happen 3 weeks before finals IMO. Will make your guys realise they can be beaten and hopefully they will be extra alert come finals time. Removes the added pressure of coming into the finals undefeated as well

Totally agree S Demon. We got a lot out of it and more importantly it takes away all the media hype. We can now focus on the job at hand and they can pump up someone else's tyres.

Henley are really pushing for that second spot and home final. Put's a lot of pressure on us gullies boys down at Angle Vale this weekend.

How'd Saturday go mate? I heard Smithfield were up at half time, down by 2 goals at 3 qtr and coming home with the breeze, you guys just a class above them in the end?

Yeah they were up at half time and it honestly looked like an upset in the making. Luckily were were able to pull our fingers out in the second half. Full credit to Smithfield though, they ran all over us from the start. There is definitely some talent in that side which isn't reflected in their ladder position.
