A great lad Johnsy, could play footy too and a brother to Andrew who played at Sturt.
Will never forget the clash between him and Adam Heuskes in the 2002 SAAFL Div 2 GF when he was at Salisbury North. Huey lowered his colours that day but he was always a great competitor and enjoyed a drink or two with us after a game.

You are obviously not thinking of the same "clash" that I am....The half time all in brawl where Johnsy and I ran at eachother from about twenty metres away to punch on. Was the culmination of a whole season going at eachother...good bloke off the ground though and was laughing my ass off seeing him out there. That memory of course made all the sweeter by the two point winning margin

Same day, same place BH, it was "a win for the ages", to quote an old colleague of mine. We won the fights, the game and got spat on as we walked down the race but we still won.
Drunk for a week and took many weeks getting over it. Would love to go through it all again too!
C Burfitt still has the ball marks on his face from the smother in the back pocket that saved us the game plus big Lenny couldn't buy a goal, stiff sh*t I say!

Can anyone confirm whether the Modbury v TTG game on Saturday has been moved from 4.15 to 2.15?

Lightning surely couldn't strike in the same place twice, could it?

Got big Jimmy's striking charge thrown out the door, the ump withdrew the charge which leads me to the question.
When a player is Red Carded, sent off for the rest of the game without replacement but then has the charge either withdrawn or overturned, how long before it costs someone a GF?
The umpires do not show enough consistent nouse to be given this responsibility, a lot of them love to impose their authority unnecessarily and it will happen one day, believe me.
The above report for striking was a case of just that and it was proven to be no more than an un-educated guess by the umpire!.

Had this same conversation with blublu rag last saturday and I think he came up with something that could be a solution with a bit of work. His thoughts were that if a player is to be sent off for the game it needed to have 2 umpires see the incident and agree. Obviously needs fleshing out but is the basis of something that would help alleviate a costly error.

Yes, but wasn't he sent off for it? Maybe even a red card?

No real reason, I think it was assumed that due to the first time the 2 teams playing a triple header that it would happen again. Also to take into consideration the oval, its starting to get a little boggy so 3 games in a row would rip it up completely.

both were red carded! protected species.. one was so obvious its not funny but i guess you should expect this from certain umpires accounts and how they change depending on who it is and what club they are from, had it it been a less decorated player committing the offence they would still be sitting on the sidelines this week. i would have thought deliberate kicking would be a fairly bad offence. i think they reported tripping and it was put down to legs being tangled..

Na its just the clubhouse side wing which the drainage is fecked and some parts of the centre square(most ovals similar) The draininage will be fixed hopefully in cricket season.... the rest of the oval is fine.

Yeah the drainage has been upgraded a few times and last cricket season they did a heap of work to get more grass on the centre square..... atm 19 junior teams and 5 senior teams are training on the outer wing and inside 50's so there isnt much room haha
