D Pearce for us finished 3rd in the association and didn't finish in our top 5 last year. I won the B & F in 2006 and got 4 votes in the association!! It does make you wonder sometimes. Coaches and footy directors don't always hear what might or might not be said to umpires out on the field as well which can influence there voting...

Dropped that in there quite nicely SD!!

And the fact that the association medals are midfielders awards due to the amount of possessions. Our B Grade full-back has won 2 out of our last 3 B&Fs and yet only got one or two association votes for those years combined.

B&Fs are always more accurate than Association Medals.

i agree with felch, the three that should get it are the coach, assistant coach, team manager or even the runner. these are the guys closest to the action and its unbias.
i think thats how we do it, coach, assistant coach and team manager i think

agree hounds..we go coach, assistant and runner/team manager..5,4,3,2,1 x 3 cards..no bias and the best men to choose it..any other way is open to manipulation

Well it depends on how involved she is as a team manager. Is she there purely to do the admin side of things and all the other stuff team managers do, or does she have a genuine interest in the game and understand the ins and outs of a game of football? It would depend on the person i guess. some male team managers aren't exactly the best option for giving out votes either...

Yes you would think so. I don't think gender is an issue at all like i just said in my previous post "some male team managers aren't exactly the best option for giving out votes either". I guess the individual would know if their opinion is wanted when they do or don't get handed a voting card. Whether they're male or female is irrelevant

Coach, Assistant, Manager and a random (potentially the opposition coach if he is willing to oblige) 5,4,3,2,1.

We are thinking of running a players player this year. Each playing player gets one vote per game. Cant vote for yourself. Isnt necessarily a best on ground but a most deserving. Eg: A young lad steps up from the B's and does a good tagging job or a player that performs a number of selfless acts. Its an award to represent the character and ethos of the team.

5,4,3,2,1 def. the best way to do it as it rewards the bloke that plays that same game everyweek might not be BOG but you know he'll play that same game every week !

jr's is the worse, in 2006 for the association best and fairest a bloke from para hills (came near last that yr) came 2nd, played as feral as u get barely got the ball, he threw more punches then possiesons he got, think he polled 3 or 2 votes when we beat them by 20 goals

also back in u/14s we had a player who dominated like anything u ever seen didnt poll a votes in ass. and got about 50 votes in club, same year i got more votes in ass. then i did in the club b&f...parents voting doesnt work especially in jr

OK, fair enough. Perhaps it's me that has the gender bias?! Not sure why Hawkseye had to poke his head in that one. Maybe he would like to offer his opinion. Or maybe he will just put a smiley in, that seems to be all he does lately - maybe he's being censored? Or maybe he has nothing intelligent to say?
