Why would they want to play this game then? None of their mates would be there.

They only have to get their club to nominate them. How many clubs in the lower divs actually nominated players?

You'd think that a talented official scout would be scouring the paper for best players, goal kickers etc across all grades, cross referencing with SAAFL as to ages and then going to have a look at players that meet the criteria, surely some missed talent would then be contacted directly and the end result could be completely different.

Near impossible job to find the players without asking the coaches. You can't follow everyones' progress and know who is U23 just from the papers. I've noticed that whenever someone comes from a league club(even 17s or 19s) they get looked at straight away.

To be fair there probably aren't many players in divs 4-7 who would make the team. They're just not playing a high enough standard week in week out to be useful in a state match.

I can only come up with 1 example which was Luke Woodcock last year at West Croydon. Im pretty sure it was the club nominating him and then he held his own until he was injured. Has played A1 footy this year at Henley.

No thanks am comfortable at Hope Valley. i think Crossy and Morgan etc. do a reaonable job anyway.

Hasn't he played a lot of B grade there though? Shouldn't a state player be able to be an A grader in any club?

yeah might be 50/50. He did kick 16.6 in a bgrade game.

Judging by the results all options should be considered & think you may be surprised at what talent and skill levels are actually out there!
