I agree Zedman there is no room for violence on the footy field. My mate just asked me to post the question if anybody knew what was going on with an appeal that he heard had been lodged. I did not want this to get into a banter about what people done to get there 12 match bans. He has taken it on the chin and now will be helping out at Nth Pines this season. But geez if there was a way to get him back out on the ground we would love to have him playing in the Nth Pines colours once again.

its a very fine line we walk, i think there has to be some common sence come in to things, its definatly a bit rough if for eg if a bloke had been playing footy for 12 years and gets 1 game suspension ever year for really minor things thats rough.

as all people on here would have read about on here last year 2 blokes from portland were given two games for urinating behind a tree in the warm up, say if one of those blokes already had 10 games he has his registration terminated for having a wee.

yeah but if he hadn't been suspended for 10 weeks prior it wouldn't have been an issue.

yeah but what would the previous 10 games be for?

and if you got caught urinating in public you would get fined i presume so its actually a law..why didnt they go the changerooms and do a wee?

its about self control..plenty of players play 200-300 games without getting reported..are they weird or do they have their emotions under control??

i played nearly 400 games of saafl and have never been reported and i never took a backward step..and i always did number 1's in the changerooms..its not hard you know..

I am not sure what you mean about the tribunal being transparent.

I have spent many of my Wednesday nights in Tynte Street as a player and then an umpire. Lots of bullshit flies from all sides and the tribunal have to filter it - its not easy

Under the 12 games rule, I cant play anymore, but then again, I am 49, and the club did ask for life when I last got done

I know a lot of the tribunal members and they are either lawyers or long standing Amateur League ex-players

You wont get true transparency unless each case goes to court - maybe No 3 should opt for that.

Nevertheless, 15 games to life does seem very harsh.

I always say, there are 3 sides to every story - the 3rd being the truth

I mean they need to have open hearings and publish their reasons for judgment. At least in cases where they are considering life bans.

They don't have a set standard of proof, e.g. balance of probabilities, beyond reasonable doubt etc. Leaving the standard of proof to the discretion of the tribunal each time is a one way ticket to inconsistency.

These two factors have lead to the widespread perception that the tribunal favours college teams and is harsher on certain teams which shall remain nameless. It has already started to appear on this thread.

By the way boys most people piss anywhere. Half time at EP last year we sat on their other oval rather than go into the changerooms. This was the week after the Portland incident came to light. I had a good look round for any official looking people before 'stretching my hip flexor'.

oppinion valued.

but i have noticed that there are somthings you do that cant be helped,
i was reported this year for an incident were i went in to a contest in my first game back from a reasonably serious lung injur, as i got to the contest i realised i wasnt going to be able to effect the spoil and chose to protect my injury obviously i made contact with the other bloke, no malace intended, opposition player was not injured i was going to be givin to matches if they umpire didnt stuff up his match report, as we got to the tribuneral and watched the video and the player the incident occured to was not the same number as the umpires report said, just an example of how easy you can get reported for not trying to hurt someone

The portland incident IMO is a good example of where common sense didnt prevail
the 2 reported were at least 200m from the change rooms, the team was about to run on, so they jogged over to a tree and took a pee behind it.
wasnt as if they took it in the centre square for all to see.
If they had have gone back to the changerooms they would have missed the start of the game!!
I believe thats a bit harsh on a player
whether its a portland player or a PAOC player!!!

yeah good point to piccachu..

tbs..was it to hard to walk into the changrooms to relieve yourself?..or were german shepherds protecting the entrance to the rooms?

it was your choice to pi55 on the oval..no-one made you..toilets were available..NONE of our players pi55 on the oval during a game..it is not common at all..next it will be ok to take a number 2 as well..right in the goal square perhaps??

Zed, what would you do if you were coaching and at half time one of your players ran off a few hundred metres to go to the changerooms to take a piss?

i think every one that plays football would know it is a common occurance, il put my hand up and say i do it on a regular basis, if you have prepered for the game the way you should you would have a sh!t load of water in your body so you would be regularly urinating, i just think its up to the players to realise there are ways you can do it without getting caught, my favourites are with you TBS hip flexor stretch is a ripper just make sure you get some team mates to stand around you, or just find some were that you cant be seen

a few hundred metres??..where you playing at the parafield airport?..did someone cut his tongue off so he couldnt communicate??

most ovals are 180m long..where you trying to get yourselves as far away as possible from EP?

if a player came to me at half time and i was coaching and wanted a pi55 i would say yes..because we wouldnt be sitting on the oval for starters unless it was horrid in the changerooms..and even if we were..half time is the time to have a pi55 and a drink, i would be pleased that he didnt just urinate on the very oval that everyone is playing on and instead asked to be excused..then they get a chat before they go back out to play!! to easy

Sorry Zed, Ocker would have said "just ******* piss over there".

I can't believe some people are so offended by urinating in public. As long as you find a tree or something there shouldn't be an issue.

I like the BLGFA approach. At their grand final they just hung a tarp over the cricket nets to provide some privacy. There wasn't any toilet paper though so I had to use leaves.

yes a few hundred
PAOC chagerooms are 100m away from the oval
plus warming up on the far end of the oval
if a oval is 180m add the 100 to the change room
gives you 380m to take a pee, thats in the portland case anyway
would take at least 4 mins to get there and back, thats a fair chunk of warm up if the coach ahs been chatting for a while
and in the case of quarter or three quarter time, basicly the whole time!!

and on the pee on the oval thing
bet you a dog has pissed and shit on the oval aswell so its the same really!!
