A couple of years ago Paralowie played Wingfield on ANZAC Day @ Wingfield and i can say, that was the best crowd ive played in front of. Granted, there wasnt any stunners in the crowd but there wasnt much better than kicking a goal on the boundry right next to a shitload of Wingfield supporters giving you absolute hell! The great thing was that it was only us and Port Districts and whoever they played playing on that day, so mates from other teams came out for a nosey. It was a ripper game as well, something like 28.10 v 26 16 or thereabouts.

But now, there are too many games on ANZAC Day so the crowds just aint the same. Last year we played Mitchell Park @ Thebby and there wouldnt of been 200 people there.

that would have been seaton v districts at districts 2 years ago?
i went and watched that game as we had the bye and there was a huge crowd!
bigger then what was at last years grand final!
like I said should be kept to a maximum of 1 game per div, even less if they could
the home club would love it, make a killing over the bar and canteen!
get on board the thunder train!!!

Not sure that there is actually a law passed by parliament on that one - if the AFL are now playing on Good Friday - I am sure the SAAFL would let a triple header go ahead on Anzac Day and let you start before midday

Its not necessarily a law thing Tigers, its a respect thing as well
Exactly. No sport is usually played before midday on ANZAC Day. We hosted the game last year and it was one of the conditions, the game couldn't start until 12.01pm, which is fair enough. It's not just amateur footy, all sport in Australia does it. If you have lights and can play the three games in the arvo/evening, then more power to you.

And if clubs have the proper respect, they should do the minute silence out of respect itself. Shouldn't need the league telling you that you have to do it.

With all due respect Boxhead, I think Paralowie v Mitchell Park wasn't probably the best game to have. If it is a mid-week game, teams with extensive history or rivalry between them are always going to get a bigger crowd than teams 40 minutes away from each other, hence why Seaton v Port District worked so well. And you're right, having too many games on the day also takes away from it.

I beleive the 2 sides coming up should play ANZAC Day, no need to over do it.Also beleive clubs that play ANZAC Day should have some sort of connection to the ANZAC spirit such as a memorial like at Morphett Vale F.C. Otherwise it just becomes a financial benefit to the host club with no real meaning except the first 5 minutes of the game.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?
