In all honesty from what I understand SPOC would be the best equipped to come up. They have recruited very well and if only they could find a coach with any sort of credibility they might be okbig red supporter wrote:My mail is Para Hills have already been asked and have to give a answer by Monday but i feel it will be declined

Shads and Co then approached Kilburn who finished 3rd in Divy 3 last year to come up and take the vacant spot and they declined, Then they trooped off to Walkerville who have also declined to go - Story has it that Para Hills who finished 5th last year in Divy 3 will be the next asked on Monday.
Could have either Portland or Mitcham who have just come up from Divy 4 playing Div 2 at this rate.
What a shambles. Scotch have to be told they have to stay where they are and cant go back or Kilburn have to be told to come up. This is turning into a bloody raffle.
Might even have Kenilworth or Central United or Ovingham, getting a gig in Div 2 at this rate.
This is a true story with no one in Tynte Street knowing who the 10th team will be in Divy 2 this year because no one wants to be there.
Kilburn are soft cocks!!
There - Ive fixed it for you

TBS, this has only happened in the last 72 hours. It wasn't an option at the end of the seasons. When's the grade nomination deadline? The Big Shrek wrote:Hamstring, I reckon this topic is full of it it because I know full well we would have gone up given the chance at the end f ladt year.

I think you are shooting your mouth off from the safety of Uni's H grade.

Thebarton Oval as from tomorrow, but you're right and this had to happen one day. I still say give the Old Collegiate sides their own division and let them make their own rules as per the Geoff Herd school of "my way or no way"!

The discussion about turning A3 into a college grade dates back to the 80's where so called "amateur" district sides were offering huge money to our players. And if you want to know why? - The SANFL was very strong and most good players wouldn't think of playing amateurs whilst they had a chance to play higher, so the district sides had to look for players from the country or amateur league. Go back and look at how many college sides (plus Uni and Teachers College) were playing A1, how many were in the State side (around 50% in most years) and how many were all Australian. The call for a truly amateur grade was to bring the issue to a head and it worked.
These days, with the money out in the open, the old collegian sides are still around but few are successful in D1 because we wont pay for current league and reserve players to play for us. And before you say it, getting a Roo, Modra, Jarman, Perrie or Bassett is totally different from paying Vassil or Gunning to play. These are young guys who can walk into a league side and these older guys wont be getting $200 per game.
