what sort of contact?

Not to sure what happened with the St Pauls guy (Read the div7 threads and you will find out) but one of our guys knocked the hat of the umpires head and squirted water at him. Completely out of character but when you are already down to the bare minimum players and getting smashed you would think an umpire would call a fair game. Our guy lost his cool for a few seconds but still no excuses for touching an umpire.

Oh...o.....he'll cop it; if found guilty. That's 2 actions. I'd be showing some pretty heavy remorse

A. Getting a bloke banned for life because he stated what was obvious to most at that game... you were a pathetic one eyed blatant cheat

or

B. The fact that after the game you came and stood near our barbie van and gloated (very loudly) over the fact to your two mates that 'you got another one this week and Im going to make sure he gets at least 8 matches'. :D

or

C. Getting on this forum and pumping up your own tyres about it 8)

Good work champ.. a 'b' grade club umpire being a "would be if he could be"...hope you invested the money you got for attending the tribunal wisely.

We'll start from the top...

A - he was nto banned for life, he was done for 15 weeks, probably didn't help that he didn't show up to the tribunal, unfortunately i have no control over that. Also i don't cheat, if anyone knows who i am on here they'll know i don't cheat. More often than not i get the opposition coach coming up to me after the game shaking my hand telling me that i'm the best club umpire they've had, then i go back to our camp and i get dirty looks coz i never cheat like most other club umpires (knowingly or not) do.

B - Yeah i remember that at the food van, i wouldnt say it was loud, and you shouldnt eve's drop on conversations, saying that i'd "had another one" was correct because the week before or two weeks before i'd also been to the tribunal for one of Plympton's players that i'd reported, he, subsequently, got 4 weeks for that. If i were a cheat he a) wouldn't have got reported, or, b) would have got off due to dodgey evidence...

C - I don't think i pumped my tyres up about it, wednesday night is jam packed full of quality TV shows, i'd much rather have been watchinhg the chaser and spicks and specks.... The thread was going down the lines of umpire abuse and i stated that i'd reported a guy and he got 15 weeks, i said he was a winner because he acted like a complete fool, i think thats rather factual. The abuse continued from 10 minutes before half time when i sent him off, right through until 5 minutes after the game when i walked into the umpires rooms where he continued to give me a serve, in between that he was pacing up and down the boundary line giving me some finger point action while still going at me...

Finally, the would be if i could be, well i joined the umps pannel a few years ago, and would still be on it if it weren't for my work commitments not allowing me to train as much as i'd like...

I thought i'd better set it straight, i have never pretended to be the best umpire on the planet, but i can guarantee you, i'm no cheat... Hopefully the Hope Valley guys on here might agree with me (hopefully!!) I did the triple header first game this year (B&C), the coach of thier B Grade thought i was super.

Recently represented a lad in the under 18 comp that was reported for abusive language to an ump then when shown the red card he slapped the card from the ump.

10 weeks.

Last week 2 players got 6 games for abusing the umpire

This could go 2 X 6 games - hope he hasn't got any priors or he could be out for longer than this season under the 15 games rule

yes jabber, i came out and said well done at half time of the b grade as i was going into A grade meeting. on that particular day you were the fairest reserves umpire i have had the pleasure to watch. our guy is also good however he has no ties to hv being an ex safl umpire living nearby. on the guy you reported and got 15 weeks everyone knows he is his own worst enemy. reckon he has been reported every year he has played footy, terriffic lad but loses it when he crosses the white line sadly

Sounds like the Smosh B Grade ump. The old boy. Outright raging cheat. Even punched me in the face and said no one will believe you how you gonna prove it. Nothing will get done against these guys. They are put on a pedestal and cant be touched or have something done abou them. That would be to partly blame the league and the umps assoc or whatever they call their group belting get together. Just have a look at the thread about being bannedfor life. The young ones and the old boys are the ones causing alot of the problems. Smash em all i say.

I don't remember umpiring him before or after, to be honest i've got a head like a seive when it comes to names or faces. He didn't do himself any favours that day when he gave me another spray in the changerooms!!

Yeah the dude i umpired with was really good, its always good to umpire with a good umpire who doesn't cheat, both the B and C grade umpires from HV i thought umpired well...

Looking forward to the triple header in a couple of weeks, although i'll hopefully be playing not umpiring.

For Club umpires I reckon after every game the Clubs should be required to fill out an umpires report, it should be mandatory, and then if it becomes aparent that there is a paper trail a mile long saying that a particular umpire is cheating, or just plain rubbish, Barry Oates should send out an umpires observer to make an assesment, and if that assesment is that the ump is a blatant cheat then the club must act on it. At least this might help stamp out whats quoted above.

I've umpires with some ripper cheats... And then my club expects me to do the same!!

I was escorted by the greenacres club umpire through the home changerooms to a room with a desk where we did the paperwork after the game. Thats where the player again gave me a serve.

Not sure what your problem is there turk186 (unless it was you!). Care to elaborate why you've taken me to task on this champ?

Geez Jab. Maybe its a good idea to let it be at this stage. Its not fun being banned from here. Trust me. he same mood i get when i cross the line kicks in when im trying to stick up for myself on here. And even FC will back me up on that one. You get the same treatment for baiting blokes mate so maybe its best left alone

I'm a bit non plussed at why an umpire would want to get on here and "blow his own trumpet" about how good he is/was.

Umpires will always be viewed as the enemy by some people but if you take it to heart you'll need to join Beyond Blue in a heartbeat. Normally the one who brags he's good is normally on the negative side of okay.
