One interesting idea is to "re-grade" it for a year to even out games/make a better finals series.
Go to 9 divisions of 8 sides with top 4s for example and play a 7 week regular season. Opportunity that's open to the AdFL that isn't open to the regional comps.

I think he'd have as much idea as the next punter, we're in never before seen territory and our immediate future is in the hands of politicians who work on the recommendations of their health ministers.
As a state, we were at 83% recovery yesterday, we tested nearly 1000 people and had no new cases, we're doing something right and the government would want us to be up and running again as soon as possible for the betterment of everyone's mental health and the economy.
They're just throwing darts at the moment IMO.
Roo would be getting his info on this from his hotel business partner Peter Hurley....ex hotels association president!

I thought the same Dutchy but do you think clubs would consider a mid week game to get the games 'in' in time?
Say a Saturday/Thursday/Tuesday/Saturday schedule? Obviously this could work for the A grade but I don't know what to do about B's etc. Or does the comp just rule out the B's upward and clubs manage their players accordingly?
Other clubs could stagger their games so that each Saturday is fulfilled.

Depending how soon restrictions were relaxed, if there was the opportunity to throw in a trial game (even a mid week game as some others suggest), then a directive could come from the league where those sides with one less home game through the 9 rounds get priority for hosting a trial match. Trials don't bring in as much cash a round for premiership points but with so many people hanging for football to come back, it could draw a nice crowd and revenue still.
Also, the September date for pubs and clubs being reopened is an interesting one. if someone told me two weeks ago we would be discussing having a 9 round season I would have laughed at their unrealistic optimism! Things have improved almost as rapidly as they declined but we obviously cant get over confident and rush back into anything.

If as proposed there is no promotion and relegation and considering the uneven home and away games aren't they all just trial games?

You'd still enjoy a premiership without promotion in a weird hybrid year I'd suspect.
If come round 7 of a 9 round season and you can't make finals and you're coming last they're definitely trial games of sorts though.
Still, beats another weekend of gardening.

Our club has been sent the proposed fixture for our season going on the best case 13th of June start date..

Interesting that a draw of some description is out, i will be watching with baited breath on how this will work with the current restrictions, especially on the licensing front which is being touted as being lifted in the 1st week of september.
The Premier was quote forthright on talk media this morning that we will not be rushing anything and will be totally guided by the medical experts.
Hopefully there will be some footy however my lads been told not to get his hopes up

At current rate there will be a handful of active cases in South Australia if any at the scheduled resumption date.
I find it very hard to contemplate, with other safeguards in place (i.e quarantine for people entering the state/country) that life won't have returned to a "more" normal level than we have now.
It won't be completely normal, but if there's <10 active cases in the state I suspect they'll have a hard time justifying continuing restrictions to the present extent.

At some point we will need to bite the bullet and lift some restrictions - if we continue with <10 cases per day, that could continue for god knows how long.. we cant live forever waiting for that number to become zero.
Aren't the temporary/backup hospitals online now? We must surely be almost at a point where we can somewhat cop with a bit more activity?

7.5 weeks until the proposed start date. That's longer than the current length of lockdown. I think we'll have a good indication of whether we've eradicated the virus in SA by the end of May.

Every community based organisation in Australia would be "planning", it means squat for the time being.
It would be foolish to not have a base plan, at least you can just tinker with the dates if the restrictions are lifted sooner or later than anticipated.
NSW would be the last to be thinking of getting any sort of ball rolling IMO, the restrictions should be lifted state by state, not on a national scale.

Pretty much all draws from what I can see have been taken down now except Div 2
