Jayne, just wondering how you are under the impression Roach is being paid $20k for his services at Uni. That said, Jackson is one of the best in the business and Gepps Cross will be poorer for his loss. Someone has bitten of more than they can chew out at Rowe Ave.

There is no way the blacks would be paying him 20k in my opinion.

Have it on good authority that he was offered $10K; then scoffed, laughed, stood up and said I don't coach for less than $20K... Also have got sound mail that Uni do not pay any of their players a dollar. The odd fence or pergola might go up at some of the better players' houses but in terms of money changing hands between club and players NIL.

I would be filthy if I was one of Uni's best dozen playing for nothing and then finding out the coach is on better than a gorilla a game!!!!!! Is that why they are 1 and 8 after 9???

Jayne, I'd take that source off your list of credible informants and put him/her on the gossip list. You are way off the mark with respect to what he's being paid and even more so his response when the remuneration package was put to him. While I'm at it, as you say Uni do not pay a cent to players & your suggestion of contra type payments such as Pergolas or fences is misinformed and you completely underestimate the motivation of people who want to be invloved at a footy club for the right reasons. Whilst I don't know what club you are affiliated with, you may remember not so long ago when it was more common than not that people played the game for a club that was theirs and not motivated by money. Ah they were the days.

Blacks 130, I'm not so sure... Whilst I did not hear it directly the person that revealed it to my colleague was at the time and still is heavily involved with the administration of the Adel Uni footy club. Anyway whatever he is on he is over-paid $10,000 would have been too much...

Blacks - don't pretend we're naive. Many do play for the love - but not all.

Please don't tell me that in a game where money/favours are rife, that Blacks have stayed up in A1 forever, that certain things haven't occurred. It's the nature of the game.

Fair enough defend your club, but don't pretend people are blinkered.

I have no issue with the Blacks, but laugh at the suggestion favours aren't paid.

I'm not pretendiing anyone is blinkered. I'd say there are some of you that do a pretty good job of that yourselves by offering some of the misinformed views you do. It's really amusing reading some of your supposed examples of favours or "under the table" payments wether by goods or reduced school fees etc etc.
Most of you sound like you're familiar with the inner workings of a footy club but just ask yourselves this. With 8 sides in our club, if we were doing one thing for a select group (A Grade) and not for the remaining players of which this year number around 280 registered players there would be a great level of disharmony.
Let's go a step further, given there are 280 players at our club, human nature would dictate that "real" examples of the things you'd like to believe would be exposed simply by weight of numbers.
Maybe it's just this, that most of you can't believe that there are some people still in our community who don't care for prostituting themselves in the varying football leagues for some extra cash. "Jayne" said it him/her self in previous post, that he/she would be filthy if someone was being paid and not him/her.
All I would say to that is don't judge somebody by your own standards.

One other thing, can anyone tell me how to highlight the section you want to quote from a previous post when commenting ?

No favours? None at all? Might have a chat to some of the people I know who've played for Blacks and see what they say.

Yes people do exaggerate the level of favours granted, but there'd be some no doubt.

Me thinks you doth protest too much.
