What a joke the Tribunal system is followed by the crying girls at Gaza.

Darren Mitchell got given 3 weeks for an accident that occurred against Gaza last time we played them (we play each other this week)

The Gaza Football Club wrote to the SAAFL asking for an investigation which MFC received notification approx a month after the game. They claimed Darren had king hit the Gaza player and the player sustained a fractured eye socket, broken nose and caused excess blood loss. If the player had excess blood loss why did he sit on the bench for the rest of the game??? (Trying to make the accident and incident and make it sound worse than it was). Gaza said that they had 2 witnesses who had different stories of the contest. MFC produced a medical report saying the injuries could be caused by being landed on (Darren weighs over 100kg’s) with an open hand shoulder/forearm. Gaza presented a report saying the injuries had to be caused by a fist. Subsequently the investigation found that Darren had a case to answer and the tribunal gave him 3 weeks. How can one medical report be taken over the other???

Darren maintains his innocence saying he contested the mark in front of their coaching box and landed heavily. He was unsure of what who he landed on or how he landed on them but said he never threw a punch or had a clenched fist. No Gaza player remonstrated with Darren as the Gaza player was on the ground or stretchered off so obviously nothing untoward happened??? How can he get 3 weeks???

What an absolute joke and cant wait meet Gaza this Saturday at Modbury Oval!

Could not agree more FS, from what i saw of the incident it was nothing more than a very big frame landing on fragile part of an apponents body. . I remember the look of shock and misbelief on darrens face after he was told he had to front up. But to make the call over 10 weeks later is an absolute joke, the so called witnesses would find it hard to even remember what team they played that day let alone a single instance that incurred no free kick nor retaliation from Gaza players. .

If i remember rightly Alex Rance and Adam Selwood clashed heads that day, maybe the AFL should reopen that case, surely Selwood wanted to use his head as a battering ram and it wasnt just an accident! . Nothing more than a Witch Hunt that resulted in exactly what Gaza wanted. A decision just before we play them again.

Gaza are an absolute joke for pursuing this investigation over nothing more then a football marking contest.

There so called "witneses" couldn't even collaborate there stories to be the same and then for the tribunal to take 1 doctors report over another is an absolute joke!

The SAAFL should be asked for a please explain over the way this was handled and why this was allowed to go on as long as it did!

Was just about to call that one TT, We beat Gaza and just scraped into the finals in 2007, Gaza then knowing they would play us in the second round if we got through, launched an investiagtion into an apparent heabutt our Ruckman gave Paul Merrit, this apparently happened in the middle of the ground after a ball up, no umpire saw it, no players apart from Merrit saw it. We sent our Captain and Vice Captain as character witnesses but were struck from the record due to there possible bias, then took the word of the Gaza trainer that 'saw the whole thing'. This seems awful similar and unfair. Know of Darren from when he played with us, can be pretty reckless in his attatck sometimes, but surely if it was so obvious or deliberate, an umpire may have seen it on the day. Shame shame shame again for the Tribunal.

gee, this sounds very very similar to someone being screwed over big time by the tribunal in late 2006 costing someone a spot in their sides finals appearance, thus affecting the teams performance in finals that year.....
what i can say is that the system is an absolute disgrace. a player stands no chance at all when fronting up to one of these investigation committees. evidence entered is totally inconsistent and contradictory, yet it all doesn't matter. they have their minds made up already.
not sure exactly what happened in this case and how it has been handled by the clubs involved, but would not be suprised (going on previous outcomes of the investigation committee) if it was an accident, and i totally understand how this darren is feeling.

Gaza are known to give it out but SOOK when its given back, even when its non intended, they to me are the biggest whingers in the league.
The Amateur League have a history of buckling when witnesses ( supporters or club related committees ) get involved with reports, seriously its a dead set f....n joke.
Theres nothing better than to see Gaza get smashed & i hope The Modbury boys give it to those LA LA's this week.
