Darren Mitchell got given 3 weeks for an accident that occurred against Gaza last time we played them (we play each other this week)
The Gaza Football Club wrote to the SAAFL asking for an investigation which MFC received notification approx a month after the game. They claimed Darren had king hit the Gaza player and the player sustained a fractured eye socket, broken nose and caused excess blood loss. If the player had excess blood loss why did he sit on the bench for the rest of the game??? (Trying to make the accident and incident and make it sound worse than it was). Gaza said that they had 2 witnesses who had different stories of the contest. MFC produced a medical report saying the injuries could be caused by being landed on (Darren weighs over 100kg’s) with an open hand shoulder/forearm. Gaza presented a report saying the injuries had to be caused by a fist. Subsequently the investigation found that Darren had a case to answer and the tribunal gave him 3 weeks. How can one medical report be taken over the other???
Darren maintains his innocence saying he contested the mark in front of their coaching box and landed heavily. He was unsure of what who he landed on or how he landed on them but said he never threw a punch or had a clenched fist. No Gaza player remonstrated with Darren as the Gaza player was on the ground or stretchered off so obviously nothing untoward happened??? How can he get 3 weeks???
What an absolute joke and cant wait meet Gaza this Saturday at Modbury Oval!
