I know we at the Parks don't mind the comp but the problem we do have is if it gets too lopsided and c and d grade sides are getting flogged it makes it hard to keep some players. We found the stand alone C grade comps a bit too easy and we would have loved to try div 8. The other side is div 8 there is 7 on the bench and that helps us retain players.
Anyway play on!!! We will get better!!

Have not heard the div 7 a-grade clubs who do not pay players complain. I wonder, do Adelaide Uni get out the violin when they play mercenaries week in weekout in div 1?
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

I know SHOC's like playing A grade sides and are loving the challenge. If it helps the development of SHOC's young guys playing against quality oppostion that offer real competition then it is all good. SHOC's have their up and down weeks with numbers (exams, playing away from home etc, etc) and up and down years with numbers like many other clubs but thats life. But in the end our c and d grades are there firstly to try develope players for the higher grades and maybe be good enough to play finals. Whilst we understand that there would be a tiny (real tiny) bit of money floating around with some clubs SHOC's think good luck to them. If it helps clubs attract players who are we to judge i could only imagine how tough it is for some clubs to keep players when only 5 mins down the road a club has a budget 5 times that of a smaller club.
Ingle Farm and Houghton from SHOC's perspective and this should come as no surprise are the teams to beat. Both clubs have been first class as well to their approach to the game. SHOC have no problem with smaller clubs paying money to survive and to be competitive. Its better that happening than the big clubs getting bigger and more dominate.
SHOC's love the challenge of playing A grade's and wouldn't change a thing.

I also find it a bit rich from Henley complaining about playing against oppostion that pay players when their A's run around belting clubs that don't pay and then proceed to rub there noses in it. Hipocrisy at its highest.

Ingle farm were super impressive well coached and really explosive around the ball. All credit to them. Its not their fault theyre playing our cgrade

Ingle farm defeated henley by 145 points why?

Tea tree gully lost their whole premiership dgrade side for the season, why

Broadview, a club of mass membership, are now forfieting, why?

In a pure cgrade comp sure adelaide uni would win the flag every year but at least we'd hav a kick and catch league full of fun times for blokes who are paying fees to play each week

It's not about who pays what! A grade clubs should be able to pay players whatever the grade. Everyone does whether it is right or wrong. I'm concerned for the C and D grade clubs and the longevity of it. ie Broadview forfeited their D grade last week. It was against us but last year in Div 8 they were flying and now they can't field a D grade. Would an A grade club in this grade like it if they get forfeits and their B grade aren't playing. Doesn't bode well for an A grade comp!!

4 of the last 6 Div 7 premierships have been won by C grade sides. And yes this year 4 A grade sides fill the top 5 but this happens. When times get tough you have suck it up and work hard to get through it. If teams forfeit it says more about the character of that club rather the fault of a A grade club.
One thing I would suggest is C Grade sides should get no pressure to go to Div 6 cause that can really hurt a club cause its the biggest jump in Amateur League. But if there was a all C grade comp wouldn't Uni, SHOC, Flinders Park & Henley for example be belting other C grade sides that aren't as strong so you have the same problem. Generally its a good mix of A and C grade sides being succesful in Div 7 so I wouldn't change a thing.

DO IT DO IT, in my short tenure at MP the games that were always the most dangerous were against the 'C' grade clubs, i.e. Shocs, Flinders Pk and Henley. Shoc's have it right I reckon because they test their kids against the best 'A' grade teams and it's great for their development. The reds have some quality kids too. Unfortunately Div 6,7,8 will always have some 'C' grade teams in it and they do pay the penalty sometimes for being top 2. For me it's Div 6 should be 'A' grade clubs no matter what because it keeps the league strong and Div 7 and 8 should be about promotion and relegation. No reference to your club or any other for that matter, but if 'C' grade teams arn't happy where they are then get relegated. Problem solvered. This is meant with sincerity. :)

Does anyone from Broadies know how their numbers are looking for the rest of the year? Having to forfeit their D's last week must have been disappointing for them. I wonder if they've had a drop-off of committed players due to the season not going so well, or was last week just an injury thing?

Uni Exams etc is what killed the club. a total of about 10 players out in the A & B grade means pulling people up, plus a horrible run of injuries. i think a total of 15 D grades played C grade on saturday.

I know that we will have to bring our very best game to beat Flinders Park at home. We will have a few missing but the boys who step up are very handy and should get the job done!!!

Not sure about Angle Vale? They get flogged by Uni one week and knock off Smithfield the next!! Will be a tough game for Ingle Farm if they play their best footy!

I would think that Sacred Heart will get the job done over uni, they had a few skilled players last week. But then again Uni can be very good some weeks too!!!!

Seems to be a little bit of inconsistancy amongst the teams in this Div and can be difficult to predict at times!!!

If Uni exams have impacted heavily on Broadview, being one of the reasons the forfeited last week, what does this mean for Flinders Uni?

What is the amount of actuall Uni students they have in their sides? Will they be able to field all 3 this coming weekend?

Good % are uni students this year, big pick up from previous years.

Should be fine numbers wise. C's are playing Friday night so if need be we'll have some B graders sitting on the bench all night. Last week was the first time all year we've had guys double up, C's had 19 so had some B's help out just in case.

No D's again tomorrow injury list is getting longer and longer. Some back from exams and weddings but more outs lower down than ins. Not good but it is what it is

Let that be a lesson to you, Port Adelaide Sturt. & Norwood You don't beat Glenelg in Grand Finals and get away with it.
