Public forum meaning open for PUBLIC discussion. If you want to have a MASS debate* with a particular person...PM them... Otherwise be prepared for others to stick their 2c in.

FWIW, a lot of older clubs have historical reasons/stories behind their logo's etc... Golden Grove isnt that old. The way I see it, Green and Gold are the Colours of Australia (and represent the green and wattle lined streets of GG) and Kookaburras are Australian animals, pre GG becoming a Delfin project, Im sure there where sihteloads of the buggers around...

Just like PNU is only 12 years old, and we apparantly became the Falcons as Jarvis Ford was our major sponsor when the merge occured... although once a year we do see a falcon flying around..

DW is very bored.
I'm with you zedman, golden grove should never be the kookaburras.
Maybe should pick a ground dwelling mammal that was around before the trees came.

I can honestly say Dw that from a Rosewater point of view its a pretty pointless topic, i played in a trial a couple of years ago against the 'mudlarks', what the hell is that?
At the end of the day they beat us and sang their 'mudlark' song loud and proud...........

You 2 blokes (DW, SS) are sitting opposite each other, giggling while you post responses to each other, aren't you?

I'm sure you've both got some spell checking to do or something...

well FC maybe they should have called themselves the "wattlers" then or perhaps "the goldenroaders"..that patch of land they called an oval sat there for a long time before an oval was stenciled onto it ..there were no kookaburras there cuz there were no trees..in fact it was a tin shed basically..and that was it

you say you are called the falcons cuz of sponsorship..thats nice..u have a reason why you are called the falcons..i want to know why they called themselves the kookaburras..when they have no reason to

greenacres are green and black the colours of a dragon(look in ur kids books at home) LOL

pembroke are kings cuz they were called kings college, broadview tigers cuz of black and gold, goodwood saints are saints cuz of their ties with st raphaels,..all reasons why they are who they are..why are GG kookaburras?

Golden Grove is a big place, with plenty of trees. Some have kookaburras in them.

20 years ago they were everywhere.

Not sure that a club should be restricted to naming itself after something that can be seen from the location of the oval.

I'm still curious as to why it so worries Zedman.

Not too many agreeing with him either....
