A big game away to Salisbury North on Sat, and although PDFC has a good record overall against the Hawks, we have always had trouble out at "Pokie Heaven"....

i think the Districts lads get a bit lost on a big ovals / changerooms / warmup areas and more modern infrastructure. Paying the price for having a mini league oval for a home ground.. Be a tough game for both sides..

More modern infrastructure? The changerooms? The warm up area? You have to be kidding Mr Winger??

When was a game won or lost in the clubrooms or the changerooms or the warm up areas?? Perhaps yes a bigger oval can be an advantage to a team - but not clubrooms/changerooms/warm up areas.

If that was the case then Goodwood would not have won 4 flags on the trot - because their facilities (clubrooms/changerooms/warm up areas) are not the most modern. Nor is their oval any bigger than Largs - that hasn't seemed to bother them. This disproves your theory!!

By the way Winger - as for Salisbury North Oval - the changerooms are made our of besser blocks (hardly modern building), the changerooms are as small if not smaller than Gaza/TTG, the warm up facility a small school oval suitable for (to use your analogy) mini league, the main playing oval at Salisbury Nth has a dirt covered cricket pitch in the middle (sub standard) and the siren is "air attack" warning device.

If these are what you call modern facilities - then you need to get out of the Northern suburbs more.

This is not the reason why PDFC have struggled at Salis Nth over the years - perhaps granted it's just the big oval.

Whoa whoa whoa... easy tiger.. dont hav to go fishin to get a bite. Didnt think id get an indepth response like that. Well constructed. Didnt mean to upset you and thought you and everyone would take it with the pinch of salt it was intended.. in saying that Port Districts oval etc is poor. Just glad we only have to play on it every couple of yrs when u make cameos in div 1.

Hey Winger FC - sorry for the long reply - but just stating the facts that is common opinion amongst SAAFL about Salis Nth facilities. In saying that I agree - Largs does need a facelift, but the oval itself has been a bit of a nemisis for plenty of opposition teams.

As for your little dig re: making cameo's in Div 1. I would hardly say Salisbury Nth have a huge reputation in Div 1 either. 1 Grand Final apperance and a couple of finals apperances is harldy anything to write home about. I remember only about a decade ago they were a struggling in the lower grades (and had been for some time).

When Salis Nth have won a Div 1 flag (like PDFC), played in a few more Div 1 finals (like PDFC) then you can start throwing that barb out there...

More importantly I want a tip for Sat's game...

i guess my digs are a product of reading alot of DistrictBoys posts slamming a few clubs re:payments etc.. def no claiming to have the benchmark in facilities or that those alone help performance on the field thats for sure. like you s aid.. look at Goodwood.

i refuse to pick a tip for a game im playing in for fear of jinxing my team. i think it will be close as Pt Dist would have gotten alot of confidence out of the win against Gaza and we are working hard for our first win. cant remeber too many games between the 2 sides being blow outs. Had your measure last yr twice and a come from behind win at your ground. Your tip?

My heart says - Pt District ina close one, but my head say Salis Nth by 5 goals. I hope my head is wrong and my heart is correct!!

PS. The last big blow out between these 2 teams was about 5 years ago - when Pascoe had a day out at Salis Nth and kicked 10+ at full forward.

PS. What number are you - I will keep a close eye on you!! Look out!!

haha.. i get enough "opposition crowd support" without putting a bigger target on my back.. lets hope your head is right. should be a good contest anyway. i remember that game with Big Lenny.. when he could move around a little bit..

I believe his training regime or lack of was the reason for being left out.

I dont think he cares if he's playing in the b grade and i also heard that him and the full forwrd share a special tradition before they go out and play and i dont know if he'll be able to do that if he's playing A's.

There's nothing wrong with going to another club to share a beer with mates......i believe that same night a few of the portland boys went down to districts for a few and to watch the band

No Shane Catterall in the Centrals reserves for tomorrow...

Does that mean he is lining up for PDFC against Salisbury Nth tomorrow??

If so - a very handy "in" for the Magpies. That will solve one of the issues - a genuine tall marking full forward.
