Fair cop out.. your not the only side battling U/A players. Take some ownership.

Injuries and unavailabilities are big this year. Management of injuries is critical as one bad muscle tear is the end of your season from here.

We're still about 8 down from our Rd 1 team.

We had a poor start, they were up by about 4-5 goals for most of the game too.

Bedge good to see you cut half what she said out. It wasn’t a cop out. Read the rest. Said they had a poor start.

Thank you Hollywood.

Bedge always rips apart everything i say. It makes him feel special.
Mitcham have very good ball skills, its like everything hit a target. They were a little inaccurate in front of goal in the first hlf which helped us stay in te game

The new change rooms are very schmik.

Speaking of ripping thingz apart, i look forward to Bedges canteen report if they play at Mitcham

I don’t rip everything you say apart.. maybe most things ;)

Wasn’t really intended to be a crack at you to be honest - just frustrated how many injuries everyone seems to be copping this year, especially us.. we finished the game with no bench again yesterday and couple of blokes stuck on the field coz they couldn’t come off.

Just one week I’d like to get through without more players dropping.

5 more minutes and Gepps Cross would’ve won.

*edit* I just read what I actually wrote.. prob a little harsh

We have constantly had 40-50 on the track, it’s only the C graders who don’t train.

Last week the numbers were lower on the Tuesday due to soreness and niggles, but a lot of those guys got through ok yesterday.

It’s not just soft tissue though - we seem to be copping all sorts.

Speaking with Gepps yesterday they seemed to be in a similar position, and reckon they may have picked up a couple more yesterday also.

So apparently the data from AFL and SANFL clubs is that most soft tissue injuries are happening around week 3 of when that have started playing. We have been pretty lucky at Henley that we have only had a couple of soft tissue injuries. More ankle injuries than soft tissue

It's pretty hard to make a comparison between AFL/SANFL and ammo clubs in general, let alone in a season like this.

We've had a situation where we've had a full pre-season, most played one game and then did no footy specific training for almost 3 months, had another 3 week pre-season which would've concentrated upon skills moreso than fitness .

AFL and SANFL players were given their own specific training routines to either do alone, or with a training partner, when it was allowed.

Add in the wettest season that I can remember in almost 20 years for softer grounds too (and hence your ankle injuries)

We have had a few really bad ankles.

Reckon FC nailed it - the stop start nature of the season has impacted. Blokes sitting around for the most part doing stuff all for a significant period of time and then getting back into it in the coldest/wettest part of the year.

We tried to add a fitness component on return but with temps at training around 5 degrees it was obvious it was more risk than it was worth.

Rd 3, but genuinely feels like middle of a regular season.

Oh well, interesting year and good experience - one season that won’t be forgotten quickly. Whoever triumphs will certainly have earned their success.. except Woody Sth B grade :P

Ladder after Round 3
6 - Pembroke OS
4 - Hope Valley
4 - Pulteney
4 - SMOSH West Lakes
2 - Walkerville
---------------------------

2 - Woodville South
2 - Gepps Cross
2 - Mitcham
2 - Morphetville Park
2 - Kilburn

Round 4
Gepps Cross vs Woodville South
Pembroke OS vs Pulteney
Hope Valley vs Kilburn
Morphettville Park vs Mitcham
SMOSH West Lakes vs Walkerville

A third of the way through the season now (doesn't that sound strange!), and just when you think you're starting to get an understanding how the season is going to play out, the script is flipped!

Woody South I thought wouldn't win a game smacked Morphy Park, Kilburn trounced at home by SMOSH.. Mitcham who have looked in all sorts got up against a side who most thought were emerging as a genuine contender in Hope Valley and Walkerville got within a point of Pembroke who remain the only undefeated side!

There are no easy games in this division, and Saturdays results have tightened this comp right up - only a win and % separates 2nd from 10th.

Reserves Ladder after Round 3
6 - Woodville South
4 - Pembroke OS
4 - SMOSH West Lakes
4 - Pulteney
4 - Gepps Cross
---------------------------

4 - Hope Valley
2 - Walkerville

0 - Morphettville Park
0 - Kilburn

Round 4
Gepps Cross vs Woodville South
Pembroke OS vs Pulteney
Hope Valley vs Kilburn
Morphettville Park vs Mitcham
SMOSH West Lakes vs Walkerville

Not only is the A grade a tight division, but this is ridiculous also.. Berri South the clear stand out side in the magoos, they'll be tough to beat and Pembroke appear the other stand out - but had a hiccup against Walkerville at the weekend, whilst Mitcham shocked Hope Valley also!

Kilburn whilst winless always seem to manage to snag an important scalp, and this year if they can do that it'll likely cost someone a finals spot as 7 teams battle for the last 4 spots in the top 5.

You'd think Mitcham will get the chocolates over Morphy Pk this weekend to put them right up in the mix.

Div 4 is a very even division. For me div 4 and upper end div 5 is the closest of all divisional gaps in the entire SAAFL. Off the top of my head something like 6 of the last 8 div 5 Grand Finalists have played finals the following year in div 4. The big difference between the 2 however is the reserves comp.

Who wins the medal this year?

Jaiden Pengelly
Josh Hand
Stephen Tahana

Reckon these 3 are streets ahead of the rest.

Dane Thompson (MP) will prob poll the 3 vs Pulteney Rd 1, he might poll well if he continues the form from that game.

Tahana was amazing Saturday I thought, enjoyable to watch.

Tahana was definitely a class above everyone on Saturday. Outstanding performance. Just needed a little more help though. Quite possible to have 8 or 9 votes already.

Bit disappointing to rock up on Saturday and be told that you have to share a 3x3 gazebo with another team for half a game. Thankfully we brought our own and could use that but probably should’ve set the women’s teams up on the other side of the ground as there isn’t much room between Morgan and Atkinson at the best of times. Other than that it was a great day with Pulteney far too good in all grades.

Yup, it's a difficult one - first season the women have played at the same time as the men, and doesn't happen again for the rest of the season.. it's a tight space and makes it difficult, plus found it difficult at times to focus on the game with the noise from behind since girls seem to look to woo and squeal a lot

As for Tahana - watching the Walkies game during the week, I would've had him pencilled for 3 votes, so think you're on the mark with potentially having 8 or 9 already.

Tahana wasn’t even named in his sides best 5 in the first round. Unsure how you would expect him to poll votes considering they lost as well.

Considering I played in that game, I’m pretty sure he won’t poll votes. He was tagged out of the game by a 20 year old kid. Although umpires are that inconsistent he will probably get the three.
