20:06.

Surely nothing in it?

Is someone suggesting there is?

Apparently PAOC have been tapped on the shoulder of a complaint.

So presumably someone at TTG does.

Going to be an interesting one, this incident is really similar to the ones i have witnessed on field where the tackling player is looking to interrupt the ability of their opponent to correctly dispose of the ball, but does so with additional force as opposed to just restricting them in the tackle.

I have seen two similar ones that were infront of goal , leading to the defender trying to take the forward off balance quickly to avoid them getting a kick away (admittedly didnt have one arm like this tackle). Both resulted in free kicks for a sling but only one was a yellow card (no suspension). In my view they have a different intent to the sling tackles that are delivered to hurt or demonstrate aggression but i know its not necessarily easy to rule on that!

Looking at the footage, I'd suggest that he'd get a couple of weeks for that tackle. It doesn't need to be a sling tackle, the definition is dangerous tackle.

For a tackle that didn't cause any noticeable affect on the player and was inherently unlikely to do so?

Would have thought a free kick against at absolutely most.

I'm not saying that I agree with it, only based on what I've seen across the season to date.

Um sorry Bluedemon but if Glenunga lose and SPOC beat PNU then SPOC will be hosting Glenunga in an Elimination Final.

Interesting to observe the Glenunga juggernaut - my question is how long will the strategy continue to work and when someone turns the $tap off where will they be? League is littered with clubs with the bodies of clubs such as Greenacres, Kilburn, Woody Sth, Eastern Park etc who rode the gravy train for a period who are now down in the depths of lower grades. I seem to recall when the tap was turned off in the pandemic ban on payments Glenunga were very uncompetitive. Money it seems does not buy you loyalty or culture. Purely an observation from afar.

Glenunga are right there at the top of the list (along with Brighton) as the biggest club when looking at the number of teams (both juniors & seniors).
I tend to think this have them in a pretty good position long term.
I couldn’t see their so called gravy train finishing any time soon…

I'm not sure 'gravy train' is the right terminology. Glenunga have a massive junior program, with close to 40 junior teams. This isn't a Ponzi scheme, used to fund quick Premierships in the senior program. It's an investment in the future of the Club and the players. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes, led by a very hard-working President and a dedicated committee. There are a lot of quality people (and footballers) involved in the coaching and development of the juniors, which has recently started bearing fruit in the senior teams. Like any Club, though, 'outside' players need to be brought in to keep the team competitive at the highest level. The best way to keep the junior talent at your Club is to provide a high level senior environment for them to progress through to. Kudos to the Club for making this happen. They now need to keep working hard to remain in Div 1 over the coming years.

MoP, I was just about to reply with the same thing. Those teams, Greenies, Kilburn, Woody Sth and Eastern Pk (to a lesser extent) had no junior programs in place. Glenunga is huge. As long as they don't disenfranchise their junior club, they'll be set to be a powerhouse for many years to come.

Big last round of footy:
Glenunga beat PAOC by 3 goals to clinch the double chance;
SPOC beat Payneham by enough to host the elimination final against PAOC; and
Old Iggies beat Port Districts by 2 points to avoid relegation.

Districts would be disappointed with that heading into the finals. I'm sure they'll have a big one on the track this week.

I saw 10th beat 1st so knew it was possible

Take into account it was a dead rubber for 1st, and everything on the line for 9th.
I actually thought Old Iggies would actually win.
