dont take this the wrong way Wild Thing but i think its far to say most people expected Pooraka to beat you guys on the weekend, were has this form been for the rest of the year and what was it that worked on the weekend against a quality side that hasnt for majority of the year, your guys were very hard to score against both times we played you and thought you were better than your position on the ladder showed

Certainly leaving no stone un-turned at the thunderdome...

human_torpedo wrote:I was a neutral spectator at the Mitcham v Portland game on saturday, and i must say I was super impressed with Portland, and bitterly disappointed in Mitcham. The game was effectively over 10 minutes in, with Bird setting the example winning 6 hard footys early, and Mitcham showing theyhad no interest in getting it themselves.
I was aware that Portland are a tough team, but the running game of Pederson and Robbie Wilson were exemplory. Cocchiaro is a super player, as good a rebounding defender as your going to see in the Amatuer league, let alone div 3. Has he been consistent all year? is he a medal dark horse? tough from a back pocket but surely the umpires can see he reads the play superbly and rebounds just so well. Lasletts job on Rowe was as good a run with role as your ever going to see, Rowe wouldve been lucky to have 10 touches, and Laslett himself wouldve had north of 20. Wareing pushing up into the midfield a bit was good to see, utilise his talent around the ground more rather than just around the goal mouth.
Sets up a very exciting climax to the year, and then in turn a mouth watering finals series, If Flinders can get there full side on the park and firing, I think they are still the team to beat, but Portlands intensity and attack on the footy is at finals level already, if they lift a gear, theyll also be an imposing task to any side. That means no disrespect to SMOSH, i havent seen them this year, and from what i saw of Mitcham I doubt they can turn it around enough from 4th to win it, but ive been wrong in the past.
A bit of a footnote, its good to see CBCOC fighting on in div 3, endured a tough year but have shown guts to fight it out and have there safety in this division firmly in there own hands now. Best of luck Flipper, hoping for the best this weekend
