Had a ball today working the GF. Seen some great people from both sides that I haven’t seen for years in some cases.

Special mention to Ben Porter. Well documented that he hasn’t been well and today he deserves this result as much as anyone I’ve met in footy. Top bloke, passionate coach and knowing him well today would have been the ultimate challenge for anyone in his position. Well deserved mate!

Huge. 2000 approx for 2 games. Last year we had under 1000 for Glenunga and Pooraka.

What’s all this #RAMRAIDERS stuff I’ve been seeing on Marion and Houghton social media pages?

Congrats to the win for both teams well deserved

Congrats to Marion A grade, too good on the day. Game planned well, got some great matchups and exploited our weaknesses. We missed 4-5 shots in the first half that should have been goals. We kept fighting but were playing catch-up for most of the day.

Congrats also to Houghton Reserves; seem like a great club. Best team all year by a mile, our boys tried hard and can hold their heads high. Great experience for the younger guys.

We missed a golden opportunity for a flag and that is going to burn for a long time. For some this was the end of the road but we have plenty of interest for next year. Up to Div 6 and things will obviously get tougher but we will lick our wounds and come back stronger.

Ben Porter was allowed to go to the ground early and had a chat to the group well before the game started but then went home. O'Dea was the match coach. Ben was taken back to St Mary's by his wife near the end of the game and I believe was there when the final siren went and for the post-match presentations.

Incredible story. Glad they got up for him

I saw Ben walking out of Kenilworth prior to the match to head home and knowing the bloke my heart sunk. It would have killed him to walk away from that day but as he said “The club is bigger than me” and that’s Ben for you, he’s a ripping bloke and as passionate as they come.

What Ben did for the Kenilworth FC in the early 2000’s will never be forgotten by those heavily involved at the time. He deserves everything and more from what yesterday delivered.

Is that Schulzy with somewhat a half smile? That’s worth framing on its own!

2014 was decent North Haven v Westminster
2015 was a bit less with CLG v Para Hills
2016 was small in comparison
2017 was the smallest- Only 2 games also.
This year was very good. If there was a c grade 2500 plus would have come through.

Not the thread but to give the D5 comparison I think yesterday would be a gate record for a GF at Payneham Oval. Don't think we had as many people as we had at once relative to Smithfield and Lockleys a few years back but all three games together relative to people through the gate and beers sold was the biggest we've ever had

We had some big crowds over the years. Yesterday’s whilst I don’t have official numbers was very solid and if it had a C grade it would have challenged the biggest ever. Clubs from the traditional SFL can seriously eat and drink also :) .

Last years wasn’t any where near as big compared to previous years.
