Rexy didn't realise who you were when you came up to him. No use carrying on like this in public, I'll PM ya.

You obviously were only listening to one section of the crowd then...I was near the Houghton faithful and they weren't exactly very complimentary to our players either. I'm pretty sure I heard one of our players being told he has an eating disorder by one of your supporters next to your bench, I hope this does not get dismissed!

The banter between both camps certainly was not a 1 way street like it is being professed on here....we copped as much as we dished out probably even more.

I also don't take to kindly to an opposition coach accusing me of doing something I do not condone, if he actually knew me he'd know I'm not that type of bloke...and to not even want to shake my hand after the game reeks of sour grapes and bad sportsmanship! I think he even offered to meet one of my players after the game for a rumble...not real professional!

End of the day both camps were not very well behaved (not just St Paul's) and I will take full responsibility for the footy club and try and get things fixed....We had already moved on from Houghton Saturday night discussing how we can beat Ovingham in 2 weeks time.

Riddler, i actually did shake your hand and then spoke some words to you, I'll admit to that, however your player was the one who abused me, but to be honest that is all in the past as far as Iam concerned. You blokes played good footy for 4 quarters and I was impressed with the way you guys moved the ball and continuely applied pressure to us when we had the ball. You obviously have them well drilled and you are winning games because of that. NO sour grapes from me or my club. Loook forward to the rest of the year and playing you guys again at our ground.

I'm with you mate what's done is done and we move on..we're already focussed on Ovingham as i'm sure you are with Adelaide Uni, good luck and yes I too look forward to when we make the trek up there to you ;)

Pines will be training as usual Tuesday night but on Thursday we will be organising a couple of things for the boys so they can let of some steam and get together just as a playing group. The week off for us has its pros and cons we are starting to play some real good physical footy which hopefully we dont lose over the break but on the other hand we should get an influx of players back from injury which is sure to help. :?

 The Saints Vs Raiders Rival Continues

Your 1st post mate I thought, good for pointing out the problem, I would also find that type of sledging offensive and I know St Pauls nor Riddler would condone any player or supporter using such disgraceful sledging such as childhood cancer, or any type of cancer for that matter.
To the supporter or player that is responsible for doing it I hope they are ashamed and apologies to the club for such a disgraceful display, this type of stupidity affects not one person but the whole club.
I know most of the boys at SP and im know most would not agree that this was ok and im 100% confident that Riddler and the St Pauls committee will address the person or people involved.

This 2nd post GTB however is such a load of crap most SP and raiders games I have played in have always been a sledging match, thats just what happens, I stood on the sides lines for only the last quarter but I stood near a group of raiders faithful and let me tell u houghton gave it out just as much. I was not offended by it in anyway, but houghton were not completely innocent from the quarter I saw. I think both sides need to address the type of sledging going on by their supporters and remind them that all though what may seem harmless to some may be quite offensive to others, but be assured Houghton were dishing it out just as much and some of it was just as disgracful.

Sledging will not change between these 2 clubs, its just what happens right or wrong its 1 of the reasons most of the boys love pulling on the boots from both sides, and has mostly always been done in good rivalry spirits. Its a shame this time it got out of hand because of a few idiots because it has over shadowed what was a good hard fought game by both sides and should be a good game again come round 17, Houghton at home could be dangerous! Well done to SP boys on the win only saw the last quarter but if they keep playing like that my days as a supporter might be over, Im gonna have to start thinking of way to beat them instead ;)

Sledging happens at every game, local, SANFL, AFL. Players barely notice it anyway. As long as no one is swearing, sledging between teams is part and parcel of Australian Rules Football. Nothing wrong with having a dig at a bloke because his shorts are too tight or because a player does a clanger.

FWIW, GTB does not speak on behalf of HDFC. We have no issues regarding the St Paul's crowd.

Lost momentum, probably let ourselves get distracted by some cheap-shots, and could only manage the one goal in the second half. Will enjoy the break now, hopefully get a couple of our players back from injury, we've got a bit of work to do to get inside the top three now.

I am asuming by that comment you meant the Houghton players were dishing out the cheap shots. I saw a fair bit of retaliation by St Pauls for some very average actions of some of the Houghton boys?????

Well, I saw the opposite in one incident (although there was a lot of niggle during the whole game). I already had a chat about that incident to the St Paul's coach in their clubrooms after the game, neither club condones unprovoked attacks and players are dealt with accordingly.

Having said that, it was a physical encounter, meaning there were lots of heavy bumps and solid tackles, a part of footy. The players from both teams put their bodies on the line.

Hooray!!!! We are on the board. A draw is better than a loss but still isnt a win. Was a cracking game of football on the weekend. If the boys keep on going with these close games I will be bold by the end of the season :)

Fact's are very straight. I saw numerous incidents, the most being instigated by Houghton. We will have to agree to disagree on that one.

I am more disappointed that defeat was not taken graciously and there has been more mention of the umpires, supporters and cheap shots than the fact that St Pauls were the much better team on the day!

i can tell you right now the defeat was taken gracefully by every player that played on saturday we know we didnt show up to play after half time and well done to st pauls for taking the opportunity to run away wit it, no complaints from any of the playing group we are just eager to get out an address where we went wrong and fix it starting in two weeks time against adelaide uni.
