Gepps jumped Dist early 5.3 to 0.1pt in the first yet was outscored by Dist the remainder of the game.
Gepps were alot cleaner with their use of the footy in terrible conditions but both sides never gave up, i was thinking the conditions would suit Dist which they did but Gepps surprised me with a few of their big fella's controlling the ball in the air like it was a dry day ( Collins, Taylor ) Taylor controlled the back half & Collins the fwd half as far as the bigs are concerned but i was impressed with no24 Campbell who racked up numerous possesions & most importantly used them effectively.
Well done to Jason Roe there was alot of pressure on him today but he handled it well to take them one step closer.
Well done to Ricky Pearce on his 1st year coaching the As, a great effort getting Pt Dist in the finals for the first time in 10 years in A1.
NM, in the appalling weather the game was a credit to both sides. Noone could expect too much skill to be on show but both sides showed they were worthy of playing finals. I thought Roey learnt from the previous loss that if you can negate Alfy Steed you cut out a lot of Districts opportunities, Gavin Rose did this job very well and Steedy was ineffective all day.
Kane Officer, who signed on again for next season an hour before the match, was outstanding in defence along with Josh Taylor and Scott Klenner. The first quarter belonged to the Campbell brothers,Stengle, Collins and Hudson and David Savage again showed his extra efforts are up with the best. A great lead up into next week when hopefully the weather doesn't have the same influence as it did yesterday.
Congrats to Rick Pearce,he copped some stick early in the season but shut a few people up, however, we had to give him a bit as well last night as after he had a few beers with us, he went back to his car to find the battery was flat ' cause he'd left his lights on. We got him going but he left feeling a bit like the world had turned 'dark' on him, hopefully it hasn't.
Mind was on the game ahead then ??
