How about gracious victory? You must have been one of those beer-swilling warriors hurling the torrent of abuse at us as we walked to changerooms after the game, real gracious of you

Explain to me how the following is ungracious:

Head Raider wrote:You blokes played good footy for 4 quarters and I was impressed with the way you guys moved the ball and continuely applied pressure to us when we had the ball. You obviously have them well drilled and you are winning games because of that. NO sour grapes from me or my club. Loook forward to the rest of the year and playing you guys again at our ground.

Mmmm. I notice that posting was not written by you Quichey! And the author of that post may have been a person referred to in previous pages as not being overly sportsmanlike on the day. And for the record I was not one of the of "those beer-swilling warriors" and don't condone some of the comments dished out, but if you give it, you have to take it, and it doesn't seem that you have taken it all that well.

Anyway we could go around in circles forever. Lets just get onto next round and I look forward to future clashes with Houghton.

I don't need to quote myself to point out that you are sadly mistaken if you think I am ungracious. I was in YOUR clubrooms after the game, you could have come and said hello. Enough said.

Hooray!!!! We are on the board. A draw is better than a loss but still isnt a win. Was a cracking game of football on the weekend. If the boys keep on going with these close games I will be bold by the end of the season :)

My first game as coach where my team did not lose  .......now just need to win first game as coach  . How many coaches can say they drew a game before winning one ;)

Not too many! That looked like it was just about your best team for the year. With a week off i'd expect you to give Athelstone a real shake in Round 9.

Um according to the last few pages, St.Pauls played Houghton  Apparently nothing else happened in Div 7 on the weekend. ;)

Flinders Uni would be very happy after seeing that draw result come up...gives them a big chance now to break into the top 5 with a win next week.

Crabs seem to be improving, with some new recruits could they come home with a wet sail?

Is the result still to be investigated, or does it stand as a draw?

Not sure... The SAAFL website had the game down as we lost by a point and the ladder reflected this but then half way through the day the website was updated with the game a draw. Would suggest to me that they have already looked into it and the game should stay a draw. Interesting that it had to go to the Amateur League as it was our goal umpire who had us loosing by a point and SHOC's goal umpire and time keeper had it as a draw. You would have thought on the day that common sense would have prevailed.

FWIW, GTB does not speak on behalf of HDFC. We have no issues regarding the St Paul's crowd.

just to clear a little bit up........the rivalry ...banter abuse etc between houghton and st pauls i have NO PROBS WITH......the small prob was the sledging about cancer chemo mindas and spastics.....thats all i was saying. but if you guys think im overreacting.....then i guess im just not human.......so i guess i take it all back........

No wonder the game between St Paul's & Houghton was talked up to be the game of the century. Because it looks like it is going to be talked about for a century afterwards.
On another topic, great point about drawing a game as coach before winning one. Would be as rare as rocking horse s**t.
Hope we all enjoy the long weekend boys and get cracking come next round. :-bd

What my understanding of what happened is that at 3qtr time the goal umpire score sheets were both signed of with different scores. The SHOC goal umpire had us up by an extra point than what our goal umpire did. SHOC's goal umpire and time keeper had the same score. When the game finished the scoreboard had us down by a point so we thought we lost but after the umpires inspected the cards found the mistake and from there Im not sure what happened. There was a lot of meetings between umpires and club officials and when we left we were told it had to be looked at by the League. I have not had confirmation from the club that the game has been called a draw but the SAAFL website was updated yesterday to show the game as a draw.
As for you being surprised that we are doing so bad that would make 2 of us and probably a few more. We had Angle Vale in the opening round and it was our worst game of the year. We hope that after the break we can continue the good form we have showed over the past few weeks and string some wins together.

Yeah not to impressed with the B grade at the moment when we play at home I have an influx of players and we play some great footy. We play away and people all of a sudden cant play and we dont even register a score. Very disappointing. Had a big issue on Saturday with a few players after the game not shaking hands with the opposition which is not on. I let the boys have it and the blokes in question went over with there tails between there legs and shook hands. All comes down to having respect for your club and your team mates which I think a few of the B graders are losing. The week off should refresh a few of the boys and would expect them to come out firing against Athelstone.
