Yes I think there is some confusion over the score. Think the confusion is that the score card was amended after the game after the cards had been signed off by the umpires and interchange steward at each break. I dont think this can occur? The SAAFL in their wisdom will sort it out after probably getting both sides of the story.

Not too sure who would have amended the score card after the game. As I said the Nth Pines goal umpire had us losing by a point so unless SHOC's goal umpire??

I see the Saints bloke who hit the umpire has had his appearance postponed, will be interesting to see the outcome of that one. How did the other Div 7 blokes who made appearances tonight end up?

apparently they have heaps of cases on tomorrow night and have postponed all reserves games ones to next week...can I clear up he did not "hit" the umpire also!

scuffle broke out with quite a lot of players involved our player got grabbed by the umpire from his blind side and he swung around and pushed the umpire away thinking it was a Houghton player. We don't condone what he did but since when can umpires grab players? We'll be fighting this one big time.....all would have been avoided had umpire called the blatant free kick which started it all.

Arent umpires always an issue in the reserve games?? We have a guy up at the tribunal tomorrow night from our B grade for flicking the cap of the umpires head and squirting a water bottle in his direction. Must have been the week for it. We are with you guys in not condoning any such indiscretions with umpires but as with yours if the umpire was not a blaten cheat it would have been avoided. You would think that in sucha one sided game that the opposition umpire may have called it fair. We were getting pinned for any little indiscretion but he turned a blind eye to anything that the SHOC players done. After one of there players cleaned up one of ours late a scuffle broke out and in the umpires wisdom he sent of one of our players. Then the player in question ran in to dispute this and after an argument which I did not hear our player squirted water in his direction so the umpire sent him of also at this point he flicked the umpires hat of his head. All this because an umpire did not pay a free that happened right next to where he was standing. This guy was a disgrace

Didn't really think the umpire 'grabbed' your player, no else took a swipe at the ump as he made his way through the group of players. Maybe if he hadn't been so hot-headed (no use getting upset over a free-kick) in the first place he wouldn't have made the mistake of making forceful contact with the umpire. But you've obviously got to fight it somehow as it's a pretty serious offence.

To be honest, I think many of them do a better job than the SAAFL appointed ones

Well according to a neutral observer/witness that is exactly what he did...little umpire who we had in the A grade saw the whole thing.

Fair chance our guy was a little peeved from being on the ground in a headlock and not being able to breath along with having one of his eyes being gouged out.

That's a bit of a stretch, there was a wrestle, but no one choked or eye-gouged anyone else.

I still dont understand why the umpire was that close to it
Was he trying to break it up? Stupid if he was and deserves to get swung at IMO

Gee you talk about someone 'hitting' the umpire and then you talk about things being a bit of a stretch?
You're really starting to reek of sour grapes mate

So everytime and umpire tries to break up a fight, he deserves a punch in the face?

On one hand we have people saying umpires do nothing to take control and on the other we say they get too close in trying to take control? Which one is it?

LMAO, sorry I did not word it to your perfection, is 'forceful contact' better for you? Since when was talking about the tribunal a case of sour grapes, get off it.

An umpire should not be in there 'physically' trying to break up a fight
Grab the ball throw it up or award a free to make the ball the main objective again

Q, obviously I wasnt there and I am only going by what has been said on here

If you were in a scuffle and someone grabbed you from behind your first reaction would be to swing
Hence, umpires should not get involved physically.

Umpires have no business at all touching a player or trying to physically break up a fight, what dont you understand about this?

Umpires take control by paying free kicks and not letting players get away with any cheap shots. In this situation just throw the ball up and get on with the game.
Do you expect players to make sure its not the umpire they're grappling with in a scuffle?
