No doubt.

But 3 weeks?! Would have been better off belting someone.

Best way to stop a cheating umpire. Play in front and keep your mouth closed.

I can think of a few more direct ways

Considering a kick in the balls is worth 2 weeks with 2 suspended it's arguable that the priorities of the Tribunal are becoming misplaced.

I'm all for ensuring umpires are protected and we should endeavour to minimise the abuse in order to encourage as many young people to umpire as we can, but honestly if we're playing senior A grade football they have to expect some degree of rebuttal from passionate players when a perceived incorrect decision is handed down.

I would have been happy if they gave him a yellow, a 25m and maybe a week if it's was a second offence or something.

If they're consistent with it I don't really have a huge problem with it. If they're the rules people will adapt eventually. They do need to be brought into proportion with acts of on-field violence though.

This is my favourite suspension this year:

3/05/2014
7/05/2014
Jordan-Kate Clavell (SAWFL)
Pooraka
2
Abusive Language/ Obscene Behaviour
Guilty
5

Am curious as to what obscene behaviour is in the womens' league

Yes, agreed. If that's the standard, that's the standard.

It was one less week for a somewhat well publicised fight our player got from our prelim final last year.

There is no way calling a umpire a ******* cheat is 75% as bad as that.

Mind you the player from last year had an expert delegate and some help from some good SA Footy people. 8)

I can say with experience that there is a line that players shouldnt cross and thats abusing an umpire. If you have an issue with a umpire whether it be yours, the other clubs or a SAAFL appointed one. Bring it up with your captain or match day official and let them address it to the official. By swearing or abusing an umpire, you're not going to achieve much whether you think the decision was right or wrong.
Where I umpire now, Ive made some mistakes as most umpires do. But I havent been abused at yet. In fact Ive been approached by most players on either side commenting on a good job by myself. If you can control your outbursts ( even if you're a passionate person ) then there will be no issues.

Yeah sure, that's all a given.

But 3 weeks!? It's overly harsh when compared to some of the other suspensions for violence.

originally when she went to the Tribunal it was on one charge but after the umpire spoke with the Tribunal they added in a second charge the umpire does not deserve any abuse from a player at all its the players role to play football not to umpire

found this one funny

That's the one I am talking about. He was reported in the Agrade so that's wrong. From what I am hearing he was asked if he had been reported before and he said no, forgetting that he had been reported in 2011. Apparently that's misleading and worth 3 weeks.

depends what he was reported for 3 years ago if it was 2 yellow cards then easy to forget if it was fighting or anything find it hard to believe he forgot

My nephew plays out at AV in the juniors and ive gone to watch him a few time and it appears good numbers, the trouble is trying to retain them with the BL&G league next door, he is at that age where his schoolmates are trying to get him over to one of the Gawler sides next year and allthough he loves playing there I reckon he will end up in Gawler. Wonder how many others in the same boat, notice a lot of clearances each year going to Gawler from the northern areas and I constantly hear how the Gawler clubs can have squads of 40 in both junior and senior colts and rotate players because they have that many. Same applied in the seniors, the Gawler clubs all have way too many running around in the B grade but a side 5 minutes away cant even fill an A grade, seems strange to me.
Dont know what the answer is, I know the execs of the league looked at capping colts imports but this got slammed pretty early on by the clubs

2 Sides outside the top 5 in the Game of the round, not everyday you see that.. Although, AV v MP could well stake a claim for the most interesting game of the round..

Ingle Farm v Blackfriars will be a beauty beauty I would imagine.

Rosewater v Fitzroy will be an extremely interesting clash, could well stake claims for Match of the Round.

Will be interesting to see how West Croydon respond against the silent assassins Lockleys as well.

Would say this is the most intriguing round since Rd 1.
