No, only to play, it wasn't that much either, he got offered 10 times the amount by some country teams when he went and played in the Loxton carnival.

The oval is an absolute quagmire, we've had nothing but torrential rain for the past 3 weeks up north, the council dug up the oval and there is no grass at all, all mud!!!!
Most lads take one day at a time when they're 18, he's a top lad and is keeping his spirits up, he is a very popular young man around our club.

Oval is fine, quite lush in places, looking a treat. We've had no injuries that generally relate to ground hardness.

They nearly scored one of our gun players a couple of weeks back until all of this surfaced.

when a player signs a contract it is reasonable to expect he will honour that, we had a need for a ruckman and went and found one then concentrated our recruiting in other areas expecting that chris was playing with us. there needs to be some protection for the clubs in this situation and that is why we have the rules. otherwise u could send one of your gun players to a rival so as to thwart there recruiting in a certain area and then week before 1st game he goes back to his original club.
chris was also a no show for a meeting to deal with the matter where he probably wouldve been cleared and he also chose to ignore calls from people at the club , it was too late when he rocked up the week before your 1st game to sort it out.

Im pretty sure Westminster won didnt they? (maybe im wrong)
Everyone likes to jump on with faults with sportsbeat and the saafl edition but yet there is mistakes in this one also
Not having a go at whoever wrote it (they all take time out to do it) but alot of people slag the other editions
Most are done by volunteers and in the end we all read it whether there is few mistakes or not.

Overall thought Div 5 spread was well done! =D>

Pretty sure you are right there bradman. The Budget is pretty good though, cant really fault them at all.

Players become unavailable for many reasons. What if he got injured and was out for the rest of the season? You chased an impressionable adolescent who then changed his mind. The refusal to clear him smacks of spite.

He made it perfectly clear that he was not going to be playing out there a few weeks before the first round, why was there multiple people ringing him anyway as you have suggested. Why was it too late when he rocked up the week before our first game, you guys only had to sign a form, how long does that take, there was no need for a meeting, he was not going to be playing for you. I can think of at least 15 players that we have let go to Willaston without any fuss, this is despite the fact that we did not want to let them go.
We find that if you treat people with respect and allow them to make their own choices, quite often they return, once you start being spiteful, you not only lose the player, but anyone else that you might gain at another time.
A big thumbs down to the WFC on this one, I am very disappointed, then for you to come over here and start being a smartass about the matter is even poorer form.

on the matter of the 15 people u have cleared, well u dont have a reason to hold them unless they are unfinancial or CONTRACTED. totally different to this situation where the player has signed a CONTRACT.
if he had of given us the courtesy of showing up for the meeting or letting someone know he wasnt going to ( he did agree to the meeting) and if after the meeting he still wanted to leave he wouldve been cleared.
has been poor form from the lad over this matter. also why was he cleared in the 1st place then?

He got poached, just like many of our players do from Willaston, he was offered some money per game, it wasn't huge and he does have a few friends out there who used to play at Smithfield also. He went out there early in the year but since has taken the opprtunity to become involved with the Speedway which his family have been involved with for many years.
He realized that his commitment to football was not going to match that with Speedway and didn't want the weight of expectation on his shoulders that would come with playing out at Willaston. We are happy to compensate for this and are aware he will not be playing every game, he is great lad and we support him with anything he does, a football club doesn't just revolve around what happens on the field, it's where friends for life are made.

so the money your paying and the contract is all above board
so you would be some sort of tax?
or does the contract not stand up to that?

We let them go because that is what they want to do at the time. The lad doesn't have a car, therefore organizing meetings etc. is not that easy for him, he is 18 years old, he was naive, he made a mistake and now you guys are making him sit out of footy because of it.
