M5R - Woodville South v Marion - 12:30pm

Dwight Reserve
M5 - QF - Eastern Park v Greenacres - 2:15pm
M5R - EF - Trinity OS v Salisbury - 12:15pm
C5 - EF - Eastern Park v Marion - 10:00am

Qualifying Final
Henley Oval

C5 - Henley v Adelaide University - 12:15pm

Greenacres about 4/5 goals. EP will struggle to stop S Clark & R Clark, no surprise to see Greenacres name Puopolo after qualifying with 4 x C grade games
Pulteney also 4/5 goals, too much of an even spread for Woodville south who rely on about 6 players to do most of the work

B Grade - Marion over Woodville south, hopefully Salisbury over Trinity but the lack of players who have qualified for Salisbury is going to hurt

A lot of permits granted (other divisions) when the league was adamant about "majority rule", without knowing each individual circumstance it's hard to comment too much

Good luck to all sides

I can't see the list of approved Permits on the website anymore
Dominic Denton (Port District)
8 B / 9 A (played A grade in round 18 as well)
Named to play B grade this week
Like i said, i have no idea about circumstances or even if the permit has conditions
That's just not a clear MAJORITY of games
Im not saying it's right or wrong but it was stated so many times about majority, i assume some clubs may not have even submitted permit requests in this split of games

Did notice three permits granted yesterday where the players had only played 3 games all year, I was adamant you had to play 4 games before anything to do with where you played even came into it!

Historically in these situations the player has been granted the permit as both teams are playing finals, but the caveat is they are not allowed to be selected for A grade final the following week.

Believe the club has to provide a team list for the A grade for the following week also.

Not if one has the week off - it's effectively the same as a bye round during the minor round.

Otherwise you could drop your whole A grade side to the B grade

Bedge and others are correct. Many permits are conditional due to A or B grade being minor premiers and having the week off. Club goes to league and says this guy would have played B or C grade this week if the higher team was playing. So if the bloke is 50/50 or very close the league may issue a Conditional Permit. The condition being he can’t then be selected in the higher grade the following week. So then the club has to decide if they pick him or not in the lower grade this week. When it got to selection last night the higher grade coach might decide we might need this bloke in my side next week so we won’t pick him even if the Permit has been approved.

This was the Lockleys stuff up a couple of years back. They used this rule, then picked the bloke in the As the following week and lost the final due to an illegitimate player. So Denton plays this week and next in the Bs, becomes 10B and 9A and then could be potentially played in an A grade Prelim if they needed him.

I' might be coming from too far back to know but I seem to remember some years ago that even if you had played the majority in the lower team but played A grade this week in a final and the A Grade were eliminated, that player could not go back to B grade In fact I'm absolutely sure of it.

Definitely used to be the rule, the last 21 were all done, but those playing lower could all still play. That's changed. If you play in the As this week and get eliminated, but you've played majority Bs for the year, you are able to play Bs the following week.

There were loop holes in that permit rule and that was the reason why it was changed to what it is now.

For instance - The way it used to be worded that if A’s & B’s both made finals, however A’s got knocked out and the B’s continued then a player who has played A’s all year however missed the entirety of the finals to date due to injury or unavailability was eligible play B’s for the remainder of the finals series.

The way it is now makes complete sense.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

2/2 A Grade
1/2 B Grade

Puopolo didn't play, apparently was still in Melbourne after Legends game thurs night
As predicted, couldn't contain Clark brothers and too much speed & class forward of the footy
Was a shoot out for 3 quarters
Not sure O'Loughlin will be playing again this season after a yellow & a red (+ 2 suspensions already this season)
Already missing Rigney due to suspension will make it tough this week and think Pulteney can win up there for the second time in three weeks
Think Marion should get the job done against Greenacres but think they will be very nervous if it's close

B Grade Woodville South to upset Gaza and hopefully Salisbury over Marion

Greenacres will be a completely different team when Steven Clark gets games handed to him this week after punching an eastern park player straight in the face, right in front of the camera.. EP player has a fracture in the jaw from the incident, obviously couldn’t play the game out either

The strangest part about it was the umpire standing right there only thought it was worthy of a yellow card, but was happy to dish them out to EP players for incidents far less than that was

Think it’s around the 28min mark on the video

Cheap shot, should miss the rest of the year at a minimum. As should the umpire, he was right bloody there!

Would have been nice for someone to have flown the flag in that poor bugger's defence, though
