Fair call, but I'm sure there would have to be a couple of young lads that would be eager to play regular A grade footy, and welcome the opportunity especially if they didn't see one in the foreseeable future at their current club.

At least gives a little more flexibility albeit small with the points.
Love it. How do I tag John Kernahan?

I also expect there's more player movement to the Hills or, maybe, Southern league from the South/South Central area.

It's just unfortunate that Mitchell Park haven't managed to develop older age juniors yet.

If you know you're limited with points though, be smarter with your recruiting - find some handy fringe A grade players - plenty lurking around.
Correct. Not having those -1's makes it tough too.

Dunno, just think freshly promoted sides should maybe get a bit extra to work with so they can compete at the standard. Within reason of course. Or at least make it so retained players drop their points quicker. Roberts, Regan and Sacky should be 0 pointers IMO.

Why?
Because they've committed to two seasons and they're from different clubs. Clearly not a cabal of fly in fly out mercenaries - which is what the APPS system is designed to squash.

I get your point, but where do you draw the line?

Should Liam Davis be zero points for PNU next year after having completed a full season?

Yes and no. Did some research in to in a few years back but need to try to find the numbers. There is far less movement consistently year in/ year out between Southern Clubs. I did quote "many Northern clubs" so I'm not painting them all with the same brush.

Wouldn't he be 1 then if he came to the club as a 3 pointer?

There would be a loop hole surely, once the player reaches 25 games find a club to do a deal with and clear the player to the other club then recruit him back and that way he is zero points?

Nope - "A player transferring from one Affiliated League Club to a Club of any Australian Football League or Association will retain the same player rating, if any, if he is transferred back to such Affiliated League Club in the same season."

The point is valid though.

Same player, different process, different points.

Bit silly.

once a player has played 25 games the following season he should be a zero pointer. If he plays his 25th game in season 2 and then leaves in June and decides to return the following year he would be a zero so why not let the loyal ones become zero too?

Also think there's a floor in the system with country guys who move to the city for work or Uni, last season we had 3 guys move from interstate to play footy with us through family friends, each of them worth 3 points and all who came to us with the support of their home clubs. Perhaps on interstate or country transfers the players home club dictates on how many points a player is worth eg if the player is poached for coin the club could state them as a 3 pointer, however if the reason is genuine and the Home club is happy to let them go, they could say they are worth zero points
