This true, From what were told at training tonight. Dont know if NG can shed any more light on why but all we know is that we were contacted by the SAAFL and told were to be awarded points for the B and A grade games.

Very disapointing as we were all looking forward to the re-match as they are always great games.

Are you still playing the game?

Why would we still be playing the game?? It would not be a SAAFL sanctioned game so what would we gain from playing??

Have not given it much thought to be honest. Was thinking about watching a few mates play for Salisbury West V Fitzroy. But now you mention it might get a few boys down for a look if they are keen. Still havent seen the new revamped club rooms.

Thanks mate. I'll keep that in mind when I tell Rexy he shouldn't get his hopes up for me playing. And why your season is going down the tubes.

Mate, if you're our last great hope we really are in trouble

If this is a fact then all i can say as a former Ovingham player is that the club has become a disgrace. It is now Ovingham in name only. Not one life member has been invited to the club for functions/game day,and this trophy between Ovies and North Pines is a joke.Anyone who knows anything about the history of the Ovingham Football Club could tell you that their biggest rivals over the years have been Eastern Park and Wingfield, and more recently Adelaide Uni.I take my hat of to guys like Nuggetty for having a crack and putting his heart and soul into the club, but as for those who are running the show I can only ask one thing.Where has all the money gone?????Its one thing to be a great coach and have guys follow you from club to club, but running a football club is an entirely different matter, and the teams results this year, along with the names who left after last year clearly show that something is very bloody wrong!!!

They owe the league a lot of money and the club is suspended until paid up.

I think I will end up going out and watching the Brahma v Paralowie game. Will be interesting to see how a couple of ex team mates go.

Very disapointing for Guys like me who don't know the History.. but answered the call of a few mates to caretaker Coach after being out of the game for 5 years.. what it has done is reignited my passion for coaching.
But it seems I will have the Rug pulled from under my feet, if people dont put there hands up to help.
Last night our President & Team Manager resigned.. and I would encourage any past players, friends, life members etc etc to get down the club Saturday arvo and help nut this mess out
Good Luck Ovies!

Disappointing news for Ovies, feel sorry for the blokes who bust their arse everyweek for the club like NG and fought hard to get 2 sides up only to see it all fall apart...If only this all happened before June 30 perhaps some guys could have moved on to other clubs to finish off the season because I can't see Ovies lasting the year out if i'm being honest....keep remaining positive Ambo (I know it's hard) and keep trying to inspire them.

SHOC v Flinders Uni
Houghton v Henley

yes it is a very interesting situation we at Ovingham find ourselves in. Chris has wanted to resign for a while as he had a heart attack not too long ago and the doc said for him to relax a bit, in his job as Pres. he had very little support and a few times was running the boundary as no-one else would do it! Team manager has quit too, unsure of exactly why, when i asked him last night he just said he'd had enough... pretty poor form, especially at a time when you need blokes to jump on board. i am very disappointed at this whole saga but also bewildered.

we apparently owe the SAAFL $4330.00 in fees and fines... we payed the last call to make sure we could keep playing but this is the first time anyone has known about any fines etc. all correspondence was going to ovinghamfc@footymail.com or something like that, who checks that? who even knew that existed?!? and apparently they have been sending email to us since about round 3, now common sense (which isn't very common obviously) says they haven't got a reply, they should ring someone a la Pres/manager/coach even to enquire about them but no, not once. this morning i rang and asked to get an itemised account of all those fees and fines etc because it seems ludacris that we can owe so much!!!i am now waiting for that list and we will go from there.

now give it 24hrs max and we'll see Rupert with the 'I told you so...'
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

Am having it sent my way to Nuggety..

Shadiac and the SAAFL is willing to help us out.. if we can get the right people onboard.

His response to me this morning was...
Maybe there needs to be a public meeting, you could use our media to promote it - maybe Ashley Porter could get some gig on mainstream media to see if we can get the community behind the club. We might be able to do a story on Simply Footy on Channel 10... anyway some food for thought.

Options
1. Walk away and close up shop
2. Immediate plan to pay off debts - work out program with League and continue playing
3. Look to the long term - campaign to save Ovingham, public meeting etc

I'd like to give saving Ovies a crack, but like I've said already.. I can see it being Nuggety & I doing all the work and probably still going under!
Good Luck Ovies!
