The venerable Scott Weekley.
Excellent coach, we are lucky to have him, should in all likelihood be coaching at a higher level. The only thing holding him back there is perhaps a really large network to recruit from.
Yeah to go from 4th in Div 7 to 3rd in Div 6 was a great effort. Hopefully go a step further next year.
Ah right, great to hear. Having not seen a Mitchell Park game at all this year, whats the age mix like in your A's and B's? whats your biggest area of improvement with recruiting next year?
Really mixed bag, our A's were probably the youngest they have been for a decade, with a smattering of older guys. So probably 40%-50% aged between 18 and 21, 25% between 21 and 25 and the rest older. Our B Grade is similar but with a few more older heads maybe. C Grade is as old as the hills. Changes week to week though, there were games where we had a really senior A Grade and young B Grade, generally speaking there was an emphasis on promoting the youth.
Improvement in my opinion (in the A Grade) needs to come in the form of commitment, having such a young group means its sometimes tough to convince them that footy careers can be short and that training on a Tuesday and attendance at the club is more important than the disco or video games. There is plenty of talent there, just needs to be focused.
We also need to recruit again, depending on who stays and leaves we need much more midfield depth and a couple of big bodied but smart defenders. I suspect Nat will follow Luke into the sunset, I doubt Jezza our fullback will go around again and I think Craig Rayson has finished up as well.
B Grade we need another couple of avenues to goal. Might try and coax a few lads out of the cow paddock for that one.
C Grade need a time machine.
