Serious? Raynor was far and away the best on ground for Woody Sth on Saturday. He destroyed us in the 1st half when he was given too much space to roam, then in the 3rd quarter he was shut down beautifully and we kicked 11 goals - coincidence? - then in the last quarter when the game was on the line, he found away to bob up again and punish up with his speed and penetrating kick.

Their ability to move the ball long and quickly cost us, at one stage I think they moved it from deep in the back lines, monster kick to the middle, turn and kick to Stubberfield on the lead who went back and nailed it. 2 kicks to go the length of the ground and in probably about 30 seconds

You must have been caught up in the Raynor hype like everyone else including the umpires. Got a lot of easy touches hanging out on his own when we decided not to tag him in the 1st half. Didn't like the tag and didn't have a huge influence in the 2nd half but is still too good to go kickless, also got some easy frees. If he was best then that is taking a bit away from a couple of their other players who probably did the hard work to get the ball to Rayner out on his own. Next you'll say Stubby was in their best, when he kicked 3 early and 3 late but nothing for an hour in between. Is 1/2 a game good enough.........On a side note, what is it with their 2 key forwards and their AFL style celebrations after goals to about 10 WS supporters on the sidelines, you look like dicks seriously and Stubbys little bow on one knee, fair dinkum.

=D>

rayner getting easy free kicks?? must of been 1st to the ball! ...stubby only playing 1/2 game but still kicked 6??

Thats why Stubby is a handy player to have, shut him down for half a game, but can still hurt you in the end, whats wrong with a bit of "theatre" on field,no characters left in higher levels of footy glad we can still can enjoy Harry Hubberfields antics at the Cats.

There was only one bag egg there yesterday Phantom, and he should have concentrating on his job as an assistant rather than hand out advice to ALL the men in orange. ;) The only thing I can say about his post about the officials on Saturday, is I've seen a helluva lot worse in Div 6! And it's not if any of it had ANY baring on either result. His 1st post didn't do the day justice. Both games played in good spirits with nothing sinister like I've been reading about in today's Sunday Mail. Hope the lad from CLG's B grade who suffered a suspected broken ankle makes a speedy recovery and gets good news from the docs.

was confirmed broken unfortunately. poor bugger had an interview up in the mines scheduled for either today or tomorrow.

agreed the game was played in good spirits, Mawson Lakes deserved the win because they played a better 4 quarter game than we did.

after seeing him close up Brad less is a class act. probably only had 10 kicks but kicked 7 goals. his vertical leap is crazy and it means you almost have to play a tall on him, kinda like Phil Hall from CU. He will be important for teams to shut down at finals time.
No offence to Woody South but i think Mawsons are the team to beat this year, big bodies through the middle that get harder to tackle the longer the games go on. good mix of talls and smalls and plenty of firepower up forward. not much between the two (woody sth and ML) but i think Mawsons have the edge, just.

Third quarters continue to hurt us, we've tried everything to wake the boys up after we come out of the sheds but cant seem to switch on. anyone out there got any ideas? someone from Trinity maybe? :P

No I think what you are doing will be fine for 1 more game BFG :D. Feel free to go into the change rooms at half time when you play us - it might work for you because by the time you get there it will be time to turn around and come back.

haha yeah its a fair trek. correct me if im wrong zed but i rekon we stayed out on the ground for half time last time we were out at Trinity and went home with the chocolates?

so either the quality of div 7 has increased remarkably in the last two years or there is truly a gap between div 6 and 7. mawson lakes will give us a fair idea of how big this gap is i rekon

So BFG after seeing Mawson Lakes on the weekend does it make you now think the gap between Div 6 & 7 has closed significantly?

Nothing at all. I can remember an elimination final up at hope valley when big stubbie kicked quite a few and was beating his chest and doing pretend "bow and arrows". He was really stirring up Magoos Corner and we were really giving it to him. Anyway WC lost a close one in the end, but big stubby still came over to Magoos Corner and had a beer with us after the game where the friendly banter continued.

I thought he was an absolute d**khead at the time when the heat of the game was on, but on reflection it did add to the "theatre" of the day and him coming to have a beer afterwards was top shelf. I can see how he would get on people's nerves though! :D

i think the top of div 7 and div 6 have closed for sure. you guys have proved that this year. One question though, how many blokes have you added to the A's from your Grand final side last year and how many did you lose? I've said before that the difference between a flag in div 7 and the top of div 6 is sometimes only 4-5 players. Obviously Lees has been a big help for you this year.

I spose it also shows just how good SHOCS were last year. Mitchell Park seem to be taking all before them in division 7 this year so it will be interesting next year how they go.

Personally i think your side is geared very well to this division. Your lack of speed in your midfielders is covered by their quick decision making and smart running.

From the weekends game there was 14 from our GF side last year. We lost 1 to the Barossa from that side and there's a couple now playing B grade. Only had 3 new players to the club playing on Saturday against you guys.

so its an improved side. definitely does show that last year the gap between the top two sides in div 7 and the top 5 of div 6 was pretty marginal.

I think in recent years D7 has improved, but they key to succeeding in the higher divison (although somewhat obvious) is to pickup a few players (and the right kind of players that are needed for your side..), and not lose too many/any to retirement...
I think clubs like Mawson Lakes and Glenunga have had good coaches who have been able to attract new players to their club, and identified the right players to recruit. What those two clubs have done the last two-three seasons has been a great effort.
Sides like Ingle Farm and Mitchell Park (and Paralowie when they existed) have yo-yoed between the two divisons recently because they havnt been able to attract enough/the right recruits when going up. Mitchell Park are headed in the right direction with Wyld at the helm.

last weeks team was missing keast, murphy and brincat, who has been out for a while, but i see most of the other names there..maybe sprint can bring us up to speed? big game against MLFC which could leave them 5-4

Ingle Farm have never gone down - just struggled in div 6 in consecutive years. Should have gone down to div 7 before last season IMO.
