Easy 5/5 this week

A big crowd was on hand at Mawson Lakes on Saturday as St.Pauls Old Scholars celebrated it's past players and Ladies Day. Past players of St.Pauls would have been impressed with the new set up at Mawson's and no doubt enjoyed the new facilities. The players from both Adelaide University and St.Pauls could have been confused for running into a Dance Club rather than a footy oval as loud beats from the Saints DJ echoed aross the ground. St.Pauls however rose to the beats of the DJ and peppered the goals in the first term thanks to the Ruck domination of Wil Howie and Shane Swift, while Wingman Ash Rath was prominent. The 2nd term, the blacks hit back, with Owen Pitman battling hard in defence, Tom Smibert blanketing the dangerous Ivan Novosel and Big Dylan Hunt was providing a handful for the Saints defence kicking a couple of goals. The robust Hunt was providing a headache for the Riddler and so he had no option other than to send his new enforcer Ash 'The Hitman' MacDonald to quell Hunt's influence. The move worked a treat as MacDonald used all of his 350 games of experience to keep Hunt quiet, and didn't have to rely on his now notorious 'Cheap Shots'. The game had hit a lull during the 2nd and 3rd term, as the Saints were stuck in 1st gear and took a 6 goal lead at the last change. Perhaps the Saints players were waiting for someone from the ladies tent to dart across the ground, preferably nude, as some of the Saints players are batting well above their average! This unfortunately didn't happen, and despite Blacks Coach Simon Ritchie pleading with his charges for an upset victory, the Saints finally clicked into action and recorded a 13 goal win. Chris Lippapis celebrated his birthday in style with a BOG performance, while defender Adam Molloy continues his recent good form after being dropped earlier in the season. St.Pauls next week take on Houghton in what will be the 2nd 'Game of the Century', while Adelaide Uni will no doubt look to 'stack' their B grade 'Trophy Hunters' team for the remainder of the season.

Great day down at Mawson Lakes on Saturday with a big crowd and everybody enjoying themselves...with the DJ, ladies and past players all around I think some people forgot there was actually a game being played....the DJ was still spinning his decks deep into the night and the crowd still there was huge, HQ would have been jealous i'm sure :D

Uni fought hard all day and wouldn't let up, credit to them and their coach. Young Tom Smibert did the best job on Novosel all year but somehow he still managed to kick 7....will he kick the ton this week?

I've been told there's a past players GF reunion this week at Houghton to try and put us off our game so we'll be looking forward to it. I've had my spies inspect the oval already and soft under foot is the report....with a double chance on the line, should be an awesome contest.

how?
players must play the majority down to qualify for finals and with only two games left that may prove difficult...

well finally home from Houghton after Saturday's game...

we were thoroughly outclassed by a well structured Raiders side on their home deck, which by the way has got to be one of the worst around. i'm surprised we didn't see any rolled ankles or knees cos that oval is so so so boggy!!! my knee did pop out and back in again (but it happens a bit now so it doesn't hurt) but i don't know of anyone else doing anything serious...

looks like the finals will be a very tight contest with Henley, St Pauls, Houghton and Athelstone all fightin for a spot in the GF, whoever finishes fifth will go out in week one...

this week the Cats will be at home to Adelaide Uni and looking to get a win on the board!!! this'll be the week to do it so if there's any ex players/members around get on down and show some support!
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

lookin at the draw it will probably be the Crabbies in that fifth spot,
they will lose to Henley but beat Angle Vale,
SHOCS will beat the Pines then lose to Henley
AV will lose to Athelstone and Flinders

i would like to see AV beat Athelstone this week though, that would make things very interesting...

The oval is a tale of two surfaces at the moment. The coach's box side is reasonable, no trouble having a bounce on there, but the other side is just so heavy from being situated right next to where the creek runs. Need some extended sunshine :ympray:

Trust me, it's been a lot worse in previous years. That we've been able to score 58 goals from our last three home games shows it's still very playable (just avoid the outer wing hahaha).

I think you may have taken the whole Nightclub atmosphere a bit too far and slipped yourself a few pills if you saw what you think you saw. 8-}

Here's to hoping the 'game of the century' turns in to exactly that. Hoping for a HDFC win, but it will take a lot of focus from us boys, less about the umpire and more about the ball. We can be a classy team when we want to be. ;)
