Excuse my ignorance Raider Jackson, but was Newton wearing number 16. I thought he was BOG by a mile. I know Naylor kicked 10 which was a fantastic effort, but I think 16 was the game breaker!

I know they are sandbaggers, and he should be playing in a higher Div, but well done also to Ben Vezis on kicking his ton in Div 7R for Adelaide Uni!

Fuzz, I apologised to Lipapis after the game, it was just a clumsy attempt to shove him to the ground after a bit of niggle. The umpire was right there and I actually had a laugh with Lipapis immediately after because I thought I'd given away a free kick for sure.

And thanks for the tag Riddler ;)

Looks like it is now a two-horse race for fifth spot. SHOC can seal it with a win against Henley this week, otherwise they are relying on Angle Vale to beat Flinders Uni

10 stitches under his eye, right eye is all closed up and can't see out of it and had x-rays to see if there is a fracture....whether it wasn't intentional or not i'm not sure what an elbow is doing flying around anyway!

Could have been the turning point for us Larking was starting to asert himself i thought...I was pleased with our lads effort especially with no bench after half time made it harder, same amount of scoring shots just couldn't convert and with the delivery Naylor was getting he was unstoppable.

I should have got No.14 to tag Quichey ;)

Diagnosis on Larking is a fractured eye socket with issues also with his sinus, eye muscle drooping in the fracture and will require surgery and a plastic surgeon but it's good to see The Houghton boys can laugh about it on Facebook, classy!

While the resulting injuries from the accident are very unfortunate and wouldn't be wished upon anyone, I don't think a couple of facebook comments made a few hours ago, which make fun of your posts Riddler, should be construed as revelling in Larking's misfortune.

where are we laughing about it riddler????? are we all gonna have to listen to you piss and moan for the next week about random crap cos you lost! we all felt bad for the bloke and this is all part of footy. i have one black eye and my other eye has a popped blood vessel and i cant see out of it. in no comparison is this as extreme as larkings injury but you would struggle to find anyone that didnt walk away from that game injury free. so chin up tiger.

it was an unfortunate incident and an accident the umpire was right next to it and he even said there was nothing in it he said it was in the contest but he got caught high not intentionally and none of the st pauls players around it remonstrated so maybe some exaggeration on your behalf saying it was a deliberate act you got beaten by a better team get over it. and its just as classy as your supporters telling the guy that they were gonna run him over if they saw him on the road haha talks cheap.

Nothing to laugh about there mate. And with your massive mis-representation of the facts here it seems to me you are the one lacking a bit of class just at the minute. Grow up.

Best of luck to the injured player with his recovery.

Well a bit of heated discussion on here i see
I was at the game Saturday and first off let me say it was a cracker beside a couple of 'incidents'. Houghton deserved the win and wanted it more in the second half. From a spectator point of view i hope both teams meet again in finals!

However, the cheap elbow that has badly injured Larking was a disgrace and the fact that some of the Houghton players/supporters (not sure who is who) are saying it was fair is just poor. Injuries happen yes, but being split open like that does not happen in a fair bump. He had his head over the ball and anyone thats not biased could see the elbow clear as day. Maybe one of you Houghton boys can explain how you 'accidentally' elbow someone in the face like that? Yes sometimes bumps dont land where you want but what kind of player or person leads in with elbow raised like that? Dog act that soured the game.
Not sure exactly whats been said on facebook but if its true that players are laughing or in anyway talking bad about Larking thats lower than low. Pathetic if true.

The other incident happened in the Forward pocked for SP where #43 for Houghton gave another pathetic cheap shot to Chris for Saint Pauls off the ball while the Saints where lining up for goal. I heard that he apologised later? Good on him but why do it in the first place? Another dog act that shouldnt be part of football at any level.

I would have hated to see how the Houghton players would have seen out the game if they were 5 goals behind instead of ahead. Wonder how many more elbows we would have seen.

Im sure most of the guys at Houghton play football like it should be played but incidents like these make the whole team look bad and can ruin clubs reputations. Poor form.

As has been stated, Barry Lewis saw Larking get taken high and paid the free kick accordingly, but as it was accidental nothing more was made of it from him or anyone else. Play on.

And fair dinkum, do you want to overstate my clash with Chris anymore? It was a clumsy shove that both of us laughed about afterwards, get over it.

Well thanks for stating the obvious that it was high. I still want to know how someone 'accidentally' elbows someone in the face with enough impact to do that kind of damage. I dont know any players that lead with their elbows. Just because nothing else is being made of it (like alot of things in div 7 which is understandable given the level of umpiring etc this low down) does not mean it wasn't a cheap shot. Would love to see what you blokes would be saying had it been you or any of your team mates on the recieving end.

So i take it you're #43? I must say you killed Saint Pauls on Saturday but mate thats just not footy. A clumsy 'shove'? Haha you're kidding yourself aren't ya? Way off the ball, Chris completely unaware and head high? Im not saying you struck him anywhere near hard enough to hurt him or anything but its just a cheap shot off the ball no matter how you look at it. Poor form mate

4/5 for moi. Big last Minor Round coming up with 5th spot still not decided.

The 2nd Match of the Century was staged at Houghton with the Biggest crowd in the history of Div 7 on show, as Houghton celebrated it's Past Players Day. Double Chance was the prize at stake as the 2 rivals took to the field in glorious conditions. The game began at a brisk pace as Luke Naylor and Ivan Novosel booted the first 3 goals for each side. It looked like Novosel was going to wrap up the ton in the first quater before a leg strain reduced his influence. Houghton took control of the match with it's 'Frollickly Challenged' backline duo of Matt Newton and Dave Keetch unstoppable with Newton going on to be Best on the Ground. The Saints fought back bravely in the 2nd term through the efforts of skipper Lachlan Kennett and Donovan Larking and took a small lead at the long break. Travis Smits was battling manfully in the forward lines for the Saints, while Ash Rath was having an impact. The 3rd term was another titanic struggle before a bizzare incident occured. With the Saints struggling to score, a long kick to the square was believed to go through for a goal by the Saints forwards who pleaded for a the six points. The young Goal Umpire was having nothing of it, and gave it touched on the line. Frustration was directed at the Goal Umpire as the players believed the ball had crossed by some distance. Well this goal umpire wasn't going to put up with this, and casually picked up his flags and walked off the Oval. Confusion reigned as requests for the Goal Umpire to return were not heeded, and when he was politely asked to pass back his flags, well the Ump decided to fling them 20 metres back onto the oval and stormed off. If anyone has footage of this incident please send to 'Almost Footy Legends'. With order restored Houghton took a small lead into the last before going on to record 35 point win. The Saints highlight in the last was the 5th goal kicked by Novosel to register his century for the season, which saw the crowd invade the Oval in a joyous occasion. Houghton's Luke Naylor ended up with the probable statistics of 10 marks for 10 kicks for 10 goals and he was to be the difference between the two sides. The Raiders have a strong home ground advantage that will be tough to combat come finals time, while the Saints will now have to come from the Elimination Final.

Footnote: Poor form by the Sunday Mail not putting in the Div 6 and 7 ladders a week away from Finals as well as putting Adam Schneider's photo for Alan Didak and labelling Bernie Vince as Nathan Bock on the Back Page. Not bad considering Bock didn't even play. Please stay off the Juice next Saturday night, you Sunday Mail editors.
