Not sure if I've missed this on here in earlier posts but there seems to be an increasing "groundswell" on the BL&G forum that Angle Vale & South Gawler may be joining forces.
Anyone got any more?

First i have heard of it. one of our players is cousins with the coach at angle vale so im sure we would of heard if this was the case. might be another rumour just like the houghton merging with kersbrook rumour.

Quote "Word out of the playford council is South Gawler are very close to merging with Angle Vale. I guess the Lions would love to hang on to there own identity but with increasing and oustanding debts , poor crowd support and no success on field the future looks grim at the den."

This is one that I found, have a squizz and see. This s mentioned a few times"

I would be very surprised mate, Angle Vale have some re-development plans in the pipeline and they would become redundant if they were to merge. They will be in their 3rd season as a senior club and have been around for approx. 10 years, Angle Vale is a rapidly developing area and knowing their heirachy I couldn't see them taking this avenue.
They would be very proud of themselves for making the finals in their inaugural year and they have been competitive this year.
I think that I would've heard some rumours if this was the case.

Do these 're-development plans' include getting their own oval & a new coach?

I was talking to a few Angle Vale guys after we played them a couple of weeks ago they were saying that Willaston were a bit concerned about their oval being used every week this year with the amount of rain we have had. So they were looking at getting the use of either Gawler Central or South Gawler Oval for at least next year where they were hoping to find their own oval with some club rooms thats what i was told a couple of weeks ago

The rumours I've heard up this way is that Angle Vale they want to completely establish themselves in Angle Vale with a new sporting complex, funded by the Playford Council and Federal & State Governments.

If this is the case, I can't see either party (Angle Vale or South Gawler) wanting to merge. South have been around forever, they won't just merge with a Div 7 club overnight.

Their coaching selection would remain their business, their desire to establish their own oval is public knowledge, as Pag has said, the oval is being government funded but the land has been "allegedly" donated by a prominent figure in the Angle Vale community.
They have a few junior teams, several cricket teams and some junior soccer teams that all operate out of Angle Vale Primary School, their oval is too small for senior football, that is why they require the use of other clubs ovals.
I wouldn't think the primary school would be too keen to have senior games there either with the alcohol consumption and the cigarette butts that will be littered everywhere.

With the final round upon us, any tips for the medal? Who have been the best midfielders this year, the Generals in the centre?

That bald dude that plays in the backlines for Houghton goes alright, he's always praising the umpires aswell.
