SAAFL Div 7 & 7R (2009)

and b4 any di(ks get on here and say who are you to say anything to him? and what grade have you played? blah blah blah i'm SHAUN HOLLAND only played div 6 and 7 with 2 years in country footy (1@ southern eagles and 1@peake) but i play them grades with my club and my mates the only differance is we dont have higher grade like uni div1 and div1r in the past div2 and div2r this year how bout you test yourself??

Why does his success upset you so much? Life is too short to get so angry about someone winning a D7R medal mate.

When are the other clubs in Div 7 going to join forces and stop this reserves medal farce and have their respective club umpires pick a talented player from their own side and allocate the same player the votes in every game played so at season end we will have a 10 way tie for the medal.

for a start, he polled most of his votes at away games with the home club umpire being mostly in charge of votes. suggesting that the uni umpire has total say over votes is nonsense of the highest degree; both sides provide umpires - i'm sure that there has been no joe bardanaro (?) pulled here and the voting slips would back me up.
secondly, he's a very good footballer.
thirdly, get over it - he's chosen to play 7 reserves - with mates - why is this such a bad thing? he played higher before uni and doesn't need to prove anything to himself, tried out with the a grade and badly broke his ankle to the stage where he was going to retire from all forms of the game but was talked into playing by an old school friend. surely its better for someone to play than not at all.
fourthly, there's a heap of players throughout the league who choose or are unable to train as much as they'd like and thus play lower than their ability suggests. he's not an orphan.

I dont disagree with any of this Finn well said. He probably is the best player in that grade anyway and im pretty sure has played Div1 or reserves for Unis at some stage.
All this bagging and sledging on this bloke is tiresome and waste of space in this thread.

He even states in the saafl footy news that he was surprised to win it after the amount of back chat he gives umpires & number of times he has been sent off........if you were sent off that often wouldn't you have accumulated an automatic game suspension and been deemed ineligable to win

C'mon people. Do you really care that much?? I mean who really gives a sh1t!?!? We all know what the average umpire in this grade is like (not all....just the median), and they are the people who cast the votes. So you should all know not to put too much value on winning this medal.

Taking NOTHING away from anybody that has won it, you DO have to be a decent footy player to get noticed enough to win it. And I congratulate all of this years winners. But c'mon people, does it really deserve this much of a sh1tstorm??
