mr million wrote:Hi ther guys and girls. This reply is to the footy God,on the comment of not making a grand final it is silly to ask where it came from.Perhaps you should ask your coaching staff if this is true, and anyway if you are part of st pauls in anyway and you thought they would not make this years grand final in an easy division well then you are a little bit behind football these days,no paralowie,no mitchell park and again a few c/d grade sides in the div7.Looking at your results last year you were very competative and were finishing the season off well.On the coaching ability I have seen St.Pauls.coach in action when things are going well thats good but when under pressure lacks those moves to win a game, and that comes with experience.I watched the Houghton/Athelstone game on saturday one coach when to defensive and the other made some good moves to win the game.Plus from my info the Houghton coach has got alot of experience behind him.So if you are to reply Mr.Footy God i hope it is in good spirit of the forum,i dont want you to get banned.

Yes im part of Saint Pauls and at no time did any of the coaching staff say we WILL make a Grand Final. Like most clubs obviously this was the goal at the start of the year but there is a difference between setting goals and saying you will definitely achieve something. Although from the looks of your spelling and grammar I wouldn't be surprised if you fail to grasp this concept.

Looking at our results last year??? We were competitive? Surely you’re just trolling?
Last year was one of if not the worst year I’ve seen from Saint Paul’s both on and off the field. The club didn’t even make finals, had a very disappointing 9w/9L record and the players seemed disinterested for various reasons including last years A grade coaching staff.
This year the new coaching staff has completely turned the club around and got it back on its feet. The club finished the season with 14W/4L and made a semi final after winning their first ever finals game since 2003.
So lets get this straight you consider finishing 4th and winning a finals game ‘a bit behind football’ but you consider missing the finals ‘very competitive’
So the SP coach lacks those moves to win a game? Did you read the part where Saint Paul’s finished 14-4? Obviously we’re not going to win every game and if you came to myself or anyone from Saint Paul’s at the beginning of the year and said we would have this type of season after the debacle last year we would take it every day of the week.

If you really have had any involvement with Saint Paul’s you would know that this year has been an amazing success for the club and have put us in a great position to try and go one step further next year. After the failure which was 2008 I think you should be praising the new coaching staff, not having a go at them…..unless of course its some sort of sour grapes?
:-k

and how did last years coaching staff go this year in their new jobs
Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts....

There more then likely would be restrictions on eskys. Luckily for me I can just throw mine over the back fence to get to Blair Athol reserve lol Although I think I will be heading out to salisbury oval first to support Paralowie in their B grade

He will not be coaching, but AFAIK will be staying involved in the club in an off-field role.

Q-Ball's got it covered again, Steve can't help himself but to coach though so I wouldn't be surprised if he went again or popped up somewhere else.

I think it's time to talk about this GF it deserves the spotlight this week...gonna be an awesome day for footy and i'm not sure who the conditions are gonna suit more, maybe Henley with their smaller runners.

Great 1 on 1 battles are over the ground but I think Houghton have a massive advantage in the ruck, Darren Kite is gonna have to negate the leap of Sammy Taylor somehow but i don't know how he will....this is one of the reasons I think Houghton will win as onballers will get 1st use, another is if they play the way they did in the 2nd half last week they will be hard to stop....just seemed harder at the ball than the Raggies and more determined.

Kite didn't get much game-time in the last match, they had some other ruckman I hadn't seen before, but it's hard to predict what their team will look like this time.

Yeah he played against us the 1st time also #21 Evan Bennetts I think?? He was ok but still think Sammy could be the key on Saturday.

If Newton goes to Ehrlich that would be a cracker contest fair chance we'll have a repeat of this haha

Sammy Taylor has been one of the main reasons for our success this year. He has been our only ruckman for most of the year and done an amazing job! Pretty good seeming a couple of years ago he was the b grades number 2 ruckman. Cant wait for the game on satdy. All the boys are pumped and ready to go.

Was he the one going toe to toe with a Wingfield player couple years ago in the Prelim? By all reports that fight was worth the entry fee alone.

:-?

Can't remember actually, don't even recall a punch on. I've never actually seen Matty throw a punch so maybe not. Just don't get underneath one if he's coming through for a mark, I did that once and it wasn't pretty
