Jimmy, how late did the PAOC v Fitzroy game go? I was playing at SPOC, and by the time our game finished, had a chat in the changerooms and had a shower and left, driving down Hackney Rd your game was still going?

It was a triple header and the A's didn't start until 2.40 - it was starting to get dark but was still better light than some of the night matches I've been to. Finished well after 5pm but I wasn't seeing that well by then anyway....

Snake_Eyes said he wanted a night game there - wish granted

I was out at PAOC v Fitzroy and enjoyed a tough game with some good skills shown by both sides. PAOC were very impressive and had far to much run and too many options for Fitzroy.

Fitzroy were on top early and I felt PAOC began turning it around when ROO came into the game - he took a number of contested marks and had a lot of shots at goal and I think it lifted his team mates confidence....and from then on they were in control.

Thought the Roys tried hard but they were not quite at their best. They will need to bring their A grade game to have a chance against a very good PAOC next ime around.

errrrrr - deck is not a word I'd use. A Marine Surveyor would condemn it as a deck without having to get his flatometer out of the back of the ute

Roo had to come into the game at some stage.. The ball went to him almost every time they entered the forward line. So he had to score at least 6 goals. I would say the contest was fairly even between him and Nelson. Roo was on top in the 3rd Quarter though. Imo his second efforts were poor .. actually non existant. Only one i remember was when he saw the ball on the ground after a contest, picked it up and goaled it. He didnt look interested at times.

Funny - I saw the ball going to Jonno Waltham and Nick Blanch a fair bit. As for looking disinterested, they were working out the forward line structure after the 1st quarter when we were all over the place. In the 3rd & 4th quarter, he stepped up but was still adjusting to the other fowards. There were some times he was playing to less skilled team mates than he's used to and he had to adjust. Give him time...............

No disagreement with that. Mind you, in the 1st half, we were kicking over his head when he led, which didn't help. (Much to Nelson's relief I dont doubt either)

Punky - forget about it being Roo and PAC; we were talking on the sidelines and wondering whether some players actually ask for, or they are given, the job to stand some of these ex AFL people? What about Nelson?

I spoke to Matt on Friday arvo, and he told me he had the gig on Roo. He was looking forward to it, but not sure if he actually asked for it. He was a pretty important midfielder for Fitzroy last year, and no disrespect to Matt, but i wouldn't say he has the best defensive game going around. Very good kick and hard runner though. Im guessing he got the job on account of his strength and speed. If Sok had of been up and going, surely he would have been first choice ?

If I've got the right bloke, Sok played B's and lined up at CHF - He looked like he's been in a pretty good paddock. No way would he have stood Roo.

I believe he has been away in the US on holidays, and Saturday was his first game back. Trust me, if he was fully fit, he would have been their best option. Very good, smart footballer.

Have to agree with Jimmy there the Red's had plenty of forward line options & Waltham was also a key focal point.
As for "the Roo no 2nd efforts & not interested comments" I do not know what game u were watching there Pidge???
The bloke is a gun & showed his class as he had 11 shots on goal for 6 goal 4 behind return at least half a dozen marks inside 50 plus another 4 goal assists where he set team mates up before each contest then handballed/knocked back towards the free space in the centre coridore for the rovers/flankers to run into open goals, i say that is a pretty good day out & if he had of kicked straight who knows what the end result would of been so i think he had the better over Matty.
In saying that the game was won through the midfield though as the Lions tired without many changes & then Red's got on top & won most of the centre clearances in the last half even with the Roy's still winning most of the hitouts.
Good game to watch besides the last quarter & end result...
IT'S US AGAINST THEM!!!

Some Rip Snorting games to complete the first half of the season. Should set up the competition quite nicely.

Fitzroy V Pooraka should be a cracker with the Roys coming off their first loss and Pooraka coming off one of their better wins for the season with a couple of players returning from injury.

GG to account for NH who look destined for the wooden spoon. This will come at a good time for GG who will turn 4 and 5 and still in contention for the finals

Greenies V PAOC With a loss for Greenies putting them equal with GG in sixth spot and put PAOC in the top 3 where it seems likely they will finish with wins against all the sides above them.

CBC V Salisbury probably the game of the round. This match alone could decide which of the teams may end up with the double chance in the finals.

Unley V Adelaide Lutheran With the winner of this game escaping the dreaded relegation zone. It could come down to this game again later in the year to find out who will be joining NH in div 5 next year.

With the weeks break now most sides should come back close to full strength for this crucial round of games!

I was talking with a fellow Saturday sideliner today (he may have been interviewed last week ;) ) and mentioned Pidge's comment.

He said he hopes Roo shows some interest in the finals - should kick about 16.8, especially when I pin up the comment on his locker before the game............

The only time Roo lost interest on Saturday, was after the game, when I noticed him using the locker with, amongst others, my name on it.

I was just getting into the 2nd decade of my career, when I noticed him lapsing into unconsciousness..............

Little did he realise, Easo is on the same locker and was, lurking with intent, awaiting his turn...........

Past Players Day - the fear of all current players.

I believe Roo has declined all further home games..........
