I can imagine what its like when its wet, lovely !!!
Still, much prefer it to be sticky than rock hard. Our ground is a District cricket oval too, no excuse i reckon.

My original point was about the fact that no-one out your way ever intends to hurt anyone, yet mysteriously everyone else seems to complain about what you do.
Of course everyone is just picking on you.

i assume the tackler got white line fever..saw a sucker with the ball and absolutely barrelled him..the fact a free kick was paid for in the back confirms this...if you come with pace behind a player with the ball there is a fair chance unless you deliver the tackle correctly he will be pushed in the back and you give a free away...so a smarter tackler would have delivered the tackle the way it should have been done and pulled him down onto his side..instead of trying to be the "hardman" catching the poor bugger with the ball and turning him into a pancake
anyway not my problem..if tynte st are really looking at it(still to be confirmed) i believe where there is smoke you will find there maybe some fire

Demps22 wrote:well I can tell you that I am the player that Mitcham complained about. I have never spear tackled anyone.
This is what happened.
I came in from the side of the player (at center half forward & not in the middle on the cricket pitch) & pinned his arms so he could not dispose of the ball. I took him to his side to make sure I DIDNT drive him face first into the ground & give away a free kick. He landed on his side & shoulder & hit his head, there was no intent to hurt that player. I have always been taught to pin the players arms so that they can not dispose of the ball. The player actually threw the ball & the umpire gave a free kick against me for slinging (his words were that I continued to tackle after the ball came loose nothing about in the back or spear tackling). Not one of the Mitcham players came up to me so I dont know where Mitcham football club is coming from accusing me of spear tackling. There was an identical tackle earlier in the game & the umpire said it was a ball up.
Spear tackle to me is picking someone up & driving them head first into the ground, this is not what happened & I am not the slightest bit happy about them saying that I spear tackle at every opportunity.
So to anyone saying that I drove him head first into the ground you are wrong, he landed on his side & shoulder & the force of the tackle his head hit the ground. I didnt land on top of him & was next to him.
