Bit of a Hills connection with the three names you mentioned as well in the sense that the first two played some football at Mount Barker and I think Newham still plays for Strathalbyn. Played cricket against Newham the other week (know he played cricket for PHOS but I'm not sure who he played footy for) and was amazed to be told that he is 33!!! Don't know if he dyes his hair or something but I would have only guessed about 26!

Newham played footy at SMOSH then went to PHOS and now at Strath. As for cricket I remember playing Premier League for Woody Rechabites and winning an association medal then he may of played a handful of games for Glenelg ANA (where most the phos boys play) before going up to Strath. Also has he started to shave yet?

I play against The Bays (ANA),was more than handy player.

CP I think its Netschitkowsky. I wouldn't worry to much when ever he was in the best players which was most weeks it would appear as Josh no one was game to try.

Rory Poole from West Croydon is the best i've seen in DIV 2-6,with BIG 'O' Adam O'Hara from Woodville South a VERY close second.

Rory Poole just ask him, he will tell you.

I think not!

These players yes.

Mazey - Flinders Pk/Kilburn - hangar and goal machine
Harte - Ingle Farm - slick onballer
Graham - Salisbuty Nth - tough utility
Zanker - Hectorville - hard skillful midfielder
Wright - PHOS - natural forward

Will throw Darrington from PNU in there as well - a STAR backman.

Not one to suffer low self esteem is Rory.Did you see Rory play when he was a midfielder Clearcut, or when he was a forward carving up Burnside/Kensingtons backline at the end or his career b4 he played in a Div3 flag at Woodville South. As a midfielder Zanker can not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Rory Poole. Does Darrington actually stand anyone? Its ok in a side thats going well but no good when his player is the go to man.

Saw him as a midfielder and I don't know what carving up Burnside/Kensington has to do with it my Grandma use to carve them up. To state Zanker should not be mentioned in the same sentence as this twat is quite laughable and another silly question about Scott Darrington who consistently and comprehensively beat the go to man/best forward a team had to offer year after year and set up various plays in a days work. He would be in the 20th year of his senior career if he is going around again this year all at Payneham how's that for club loyalty bulldog?

Best Player I've seen and played with was easily Steve McLean when I was at Ingle Farm....Out and Out star!!
Played for Port Ressies in his younger days and towards the end of his career played down at The Farmers to play with mates couldn't train as he lived down south just rocked up game day with his boots in one hand but was just a brick wall at CHB nothing got past him.....Legend and a top bloke as well!!

Hey, The Riddler.

I'd have to agree, Steve McLean is a genuine class act. I play with him at Ingle Farm in D9B, but I constantly hear how good he is/was...a genuine star, and top bloke as well. He always has time for the young kids, as well as the seasoned pros.

When did you play down at Rowe Park?

Anyways, my vote for best-ever SAAFL player is Lew John, who played the old Semaphore Centrals (before the merger with Exeter to form Port Districts), and Postals...from the old footage I've seen of him, was rarely beaten and could fill a variety of positions.

Peace Out!!!!

Stevie Mclean is a legend! can't believe he's still running around no doubt he'd still be dominating.

I played with him in the 2000 magoos premiership if we didn't have him reckon we would have struggled!

Steve McLean is indeed still the Rock of Gibraltar!

Had a couple of injuries, but has still played most of our games...champion stuff!

Steve McLean had big wraps on him as junior.

Played Teal Cup for SA in 1986.

Might have been a Teal Cup All-Australian?

 yes that Shaun Holland can play...reminds me of a young James Hird, puts himself wherever the team needs him defence, middle, up forward he is a gun! (you owe me a beer for that)
