Was very confused with Para Hills loading 25 players last weekend. The C Grade coach had a go at us for not knowing this so called new rule. Not sure if I'm correct but what I was told is that you are allowed to name 25 but must pick the 21 out of that original 25. after the umps were easily led to believe it . The 25 blokes played. Pretty much like playing 2 sides on the day. Not saying that if the rules were adhered to we would have won. Just saying something a little wrong went on last week.

Anyone know about this or if i have the right idea?

you can play all 25. From the Handbook;
28.21 A team must consist of between 14 and 18 players, who may be on the field at any one time, and
no more than three (3) interchange players for all minor round matches.
28.21.1 Member Club’s participating in C Divisions can field up to 25 players (maximum 7
interchange players) in any match of The League.

The aim of the new rule is to allow more blokes to have a run on a Saturday that may have missed out on a game if there were only 21 allowed to play. That way clubs don't lose players when they become disinterested.

If you could name 25 but then only play 21, that would defeat the purpose of the new rule.

If he's so good, why doesn't he play in a higher grade for the Reds?

exactly- last year I named my 21 + 4 emergencies, how many times did the emergencies attend?
0.

What this rule will achieve, is not "upsetting" blokes named 22-25, who end up playing anyway, because the B's have called up 2 players at the last minute.
We lost a player last year, + 2 of his mates, as he wasn't getting named regularly.
Well done to the SAAFL on coming up with this idea.

Agreed mate. All the hype and not much on the board. Higher grades played like a really well gelled unit. Was very impressed with The Hills last round
