What more information do you think you could get even if it was run like a commercially operated radio show than you get on this website or at the pub. Plenty of you say what you don't want on this show but not what exactly you do want.

Perhaps some of you should try to act as a researcher for the show and see what you can get from clubs and that's even if they return your calls OR given it's voluntary do it yourself and see what comes up.

Frankly I get more of giggle on the way to work listening this "add hock crap" than I did
listening to John Wilson or Les Daveron reading in a monotone voice straight out of the SportsBeat and displaying their poor reading skills in the process.[/

Have to take exception to your reference to Les Daveron. Wilson did just read his notes and very poorly at that, but Les was 'in and under' so to speak. Knew ins and outs, who was in form, what genuine match ups were on the cards, (not just last weeks best players from each team!!). His run down into the finals series was always very interesting, and just his overall knowledge of the league was great. Bring him back anytime and the listeners will follow.

Have to agree with this. Les was a pleasure to listen to and I know for a fact that he did do plenty of research for the radio show and sportsbeat article. His knowledge of the SAAFL was not equalled when he was involved.

i reckon the other one the show is missing is the man Mark Baylis. somehow knew everything about everyone, and if he didn't know, he'd ask the question to get the facts. Les was also good though. for those wanting to listen for some sportsmans breakfast recipe and whats going on in the world with anything not to do with sport, then i guess Mark and Les would not be your men.

Nice bloke is Mark, I remember a few years ago playing in the SAAFL vs Southern League game, walking off the oval at half-time of the curtain-raiser and he came up and introduced himself to have a chat, and knew my life story already. He was involved with Gaza wasn't he? He and Les gave the show some credibility.

bayliss is a human encyclopedia of amateur league info. its almost scarry the details he knows. i have used him as a refrence for gaining saafl info and its staggering how he knows what he knows. an furthermore he has a head tailor made for radio. jost jokes bayls.

yes Mark is another former member that is sorely missed from the 1197 Amateur Football Show and a real nice bloke too. I have had many footy discussions with him over the years. He is always happy to have a chat about the game he sure does love his footy

I think you mean "ad hoc" but it doesn't matter how it's spelt it's still 'crap'!
Les D & Mark B were the best, did not rave on about anything not related to the SAAFL and that's what the show is supposed to be about. The rubbish they went on about again this morning, quite obvious none of them had toys when they were kids!

Agree bring back Les and Mark. not sure how SAAFL can allow this rubbish to go to air , its crap. Maybe we should get a petition going and get rid of the show.

Despite friday being my designated sleep in day i will tune in this week and if the show is as bad as what people are saying will endevour to help out. Surely it cant be that bad. With all the tools now available to research it should not be too hard to talk about a 67 team league. Im looking forward to tuning in. I see on Grassroots its advertised for 7am til 9am. My verdict will be in on monday afternoon if anyone cares.

You're correct, it shouldn't be hard to talk about the SAAFL but by the time the blokes behind the microphone tickle each others fancy for an hour, give us a recipe or 2 and Darcy craps on about his beloved FPFC and the cowboy function , JN tells us for the 99th time we're on 5RPH 1197 on the am dial and the time , oops sorry, we're out of time. Thanks Peter, Darcy this is John signing off for another great show full of ......................................not much at all really'!

Yes it doesnt seem like much "value for money" considering each club pays for the priveledge of listening to these clowns..combine this crap with the recent "Roots" debacle and I think the clubs are getting well and truly screwed by "those that shall be obeyed"

Yes turk, a lot of work to be done by club delegates to get it all right. A few people have been 'burnt' too!

Ace..I agree.. it is time that the Exec worked for the clubs best interest not their own and yes the delegates need to be strong and demand what they want for their club not be told what they need

WW ..apparently there was a conflict of interest between a "rooter" and the rival talking amateurs publication

The end result was a well know and respected member was given the flick..not very nice by the SAAFL exec.

Seems to me to be a bit like the Green affair...rock da boat and youre out

Im not in a position where i can comment on this statement. I am able to only discuss the facts not my opinions or feelings.
SO FACTS ; 2 valued members where relieved of their duties (they worked for free as well). Thats 2 not 1.
FACT ; Their knowledge and contribution to amateur league was invaluable and will be sorely missed.
FACT ; YOU are well informed and this development has left the 2 ex-rooters very very dissapointed along with many others.
FACT ; People who give their time for free to promote the game, teams and league they love in their own time, without pay, whilst giving their best efforts to give exposure to all teams and clubs without any agendas can not be replaced.
