The SFL "Combination" points system for this season is explained within the attached document.
The SFL Clubs complained as the points system had not been ratified before some clubs had started their recruiting for Season 2010, so a compromise was agreed upon with some strict rulings imposed as CFB did the compromise with "gritted teeth"
1)Full adoption of the SACFL APPS in 2011

2)The APPS to operate in tandem with your points system in 2010

3)Any player registered and played for one of your clubs in the SFL prior to June 2009 will attract zero points in season 2011 if continuing at that same club and

4) any player recruited and registered after 21st July 2009 by a SFL Club and plays in 2010 will be allocated points under the APPS which will continue in terms of the APPS for the following seasons.

I'm not too familiar on how it will work for Old Collegian sides, but I think it may serioulsy disadvantage them of they are a club with a truely "amatuer" status. Surely if players dont get paid then they should have 0 points.

They still have to be able to convince these players to play there and also have enough money to pay them.

Clubs have the opportunity to declare themsleves as purely amateur and will not have to comply with points scheme. I would expect there should be hefty penalties should a club get caught cheating on this...

Correct

I would suggest that Uni will declare themselves amateur and therefore the points system will not apply

With respect to us, we have school kids playing for both the school and a club (ie) Walkerville, PNU etc. On Monday night, the issue was raised at the AGM, and I believe that the system will be that only one club will get the benefit of the junior points, so if my lad decides to play for his Sunday club, then PAOC lose the junior benefit (he will also have to find somewhere else to live because the rent in my home will be equal to his match payments ;) ). If, later, he transfers to PAOC, he will cost points like any other player transferring in a similar manner

If other clubs cant 'afford' them under their new points system, the OC teams could stack plenty together and they could all be worth 0 points....

All clubs have the opportunity, if it presents itself, to use zero points for former AFL players if they nominate them as their junior club. The rule doesn't just apply to OC clubs.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.
