Yep.
Yours is the best going around ATM.

Really? What's Trent Mills then, Chopped liver?

6th flag in 10 years including 5 in a row. and undefeated minor premiers to boot.

Clearly Garry has achieved, I won't argue that point - but lets not forget was at the helm when the club went down 3 divs in as many years too....

take nothing away from his back to back flags but he's got a little way to catch up yet to the best coach in the league yet..

FC.
No one said Mills was chopped liver.
Stop la laring.
All power to Mills.
As for Macca.
Being at the helm in poor times only reinforcers the fact that he is the best going around to bring his club back to the top.
I'm tipping Goodies budget is a wee bit larger.

i'm not la-laring - I'm only quoting facts.

My point is, is that It's all too easy to see someone as legendary as Macca with rose coloured glasses.

If he was the best, they would've stayed at the top. Simples.

The evil emperor closed the cheque book and they went down and down - and down again.

Now that the captain is retiring, they'll have a somewhat more to play with. I would say that their budgets would be quite similar. Don't let the fact they (Goodies) snared an ex AFL player fool you.

If and individual puts being an amateur league coach ahead his family and marital relationship... it would make me question his thinking and his ability to make informed judgements. Good coaches wouldn't place a $$$ value against their family when holding their hand out.

As for 20-30 hours a week I find that hard to believe. Here is what I see. 2 hours Tuesday night, 2 hours Thursday night, 4 hours Saturday and 2 hours selecting players. 10 hours. There might e a few coaches who tape games and watch them again. Another 2 hours for them. However you are not going over tapes from other teams, watching there practice or getting scout reports. 12 hours is about the
Most I can see. Would love to know where the other hours are spent?

I can not believe how insulting this would be to the coaches, ours in particular, who spend countless hours tiring over their role and going beyond what is asked. I have no doubt more coaches (at least 'A' grade) than not fall into this category.

The head coach of a local footy club is far more than a coach, they are the leader of the club and are instrumental in building its culture.

10 hours. Get stuffed.

I don't think the $$ amount is thaaat relevant to the grade being coached. A coaches value to the club would be unique to that club and it is not necessary his 'coaching' that is the value.

Most coaches would also take massive unders because of the passion for their club, so regardless of their division they could be paid stuff all.

Coaches get paid stuff all for the work they do!!

While we're on the subject, and this a genuine enquiry, what are people's thoughts on what a B grade coach should get. Roundabout is cool.

Depends who is the judge.

If you ask my wife, anything more than zero minutes spent at football is putting time ahead of family.

Definitely phone bill reimbursements, some petrol $$, and maybe some beer tickets at a minimum. That would be the courteous thing to offer by the club.

Would say it might be a little bit more than this aswell. Many B grade coaches put in a hell of a lot of hours, more than most would think. Well I know ours sure does.
