Nasty, nasty memories.

Dogwatcher wrote:That would've been horrible. It was horrible enough getting off at Tamblin at 8 in the morning going to school, let alone on a Sunday morning.
Sometimes we'd catch the first bus - the 228, that came earlier than the train back then.
That bus was absolute torture.

I hated the stretch between Pooraka and Hillbank, it felt like it would never end.

These days Northerners just book a hotel room in the city.....
I'll only shower if it's a particularly long drive home or if it's an especially muddy day. Otherwise why would you want to share a cold quick shower when you could wait ten minutes and have a long, hot shower in your own space.Zartan wrote:Footy Chick wrote:That - and once upon a time blokes would have a shower at the club after the game and then head straight to the clubrooms.

Yep, don't know what it is with guys these days - no one in my B grade showers after a game at the club the filthy animals!

I think the younger generation is a contributing factor but we used to have our shower, go in for a beer, organise dropping our cars & gear off then someone would do a quick pick up of all of us and take us back to the club for presso's and pre-town drinks.
I'd say the tougher drink driving laws would have a big impact too, 3 pints and you're over the limit.
