Maroon pfft. Real clubs wear black & white.

Didnt Payneham used to wear an ugly maroon and gold or similar prior to merging

Norwood Union were always black and white IIRC

Sorry for the confusion, although i guess its to be expected when clubs need to merge to survive i did however see Payneham in your title PNU

Back onto the topic of footy.

Lightning McQueen wrote:A big round of footy looms in Div 2 this week:
Flinders vs SMOSH: Both teams will be looking for the win to have a 3-3 record and keep in touch with the 5.
PAOC vs Gepps: 4th vs 5th, 4-2 is a lot more appealing than 3-3, third spot is up for grabs one would think.
PNU vs PHOS: A gallant performance last weekend from the winless side but you'd think the home side will get the points quite easily.
Scotch vs Broadview: Scotch continue to prove the goods after being promoted the last two seasons, can Broadies stop them in a top vs 3rd encounter?
Walkerville vs SHOC: I'm tipping Walkies to go back to back wins after finally getting the monkey off their back against the team with the pooreset percentage.

Should be a really good game at Walkerville. Cats coming of their first win and SHOC coming off a bit of a belting. Both teams will be desperate to push closer to the top 5. FP v SMOSH should also be a good game to watch. I reckon FP on their home deck should be able to get the win.

Haven't seen PAOC yet, but Gepps were really good against us at Smith St a fortnight ago. Gepps' break and run killed us and with college sides loving the running game style this could be a fast paced match.

This is a good round of local footy.

Great effort by Gepps Cross today to really fight out the game finishing with only 16 fit men.

Pity the umpiring had an effect on the result.

Caught the last 10 mins of Walkies v SHOC. We were only a goal up but finished the game strongly to win by 13 points. The lead got out to 20 pts before SHOC kicked a late goal. Word around the ground was that the umpires werent the best.

Great to get back to back wins.

PNU v PHOS was a tale of 2 stories. 1st half by PNU was pathetic with there only being a goal or so in it at half time but a 10 goal 3rd term from the falcons sealed the win by playing a great 2nd half of footy. The top of the table clash next week should be an absolute beauty.

What happened? Did they help you out and keep you in the game? Or was it the other way?

Not often you move from 5th to 4th after a loss.

agree that the ump in the cap made a few "strange" non frees/marks in favour of the home team but he wasn't the one having gettable shots for goal and missing.
two main forwards for gepps were not up to the occasion [ yes you bloodnut--- buy a mirror and have a bloody hard look at yourself then give it to #19]
poac very good overhead and lots of run/overlap
gepps probably the better side on the day but let down badly by the shocking kicks of their forwards.
#34 for gepps was outstanding, punched well outside his division

Can't argue with that. Thurgood kicked 1.5 and 1 out on the full. The kids for Gepps were all pretty good. One even played 3 1/2 qtrs in the bs before a late call up to the as. Ended up playing close to 6 1/2 qtrs for the day.

Obviously a long time to go, but how long has it been since PHOS slipped below Div 2?

Not during the current millennium.
